Well if carbon and environmental issues really are a concern my 6000 miles a year in the suburban is way less of an impact than your DC Metro bus.

But clearly carbon and environmental issues aren’t the end game, growing government is.

Yeah, buses fit around 70 people. Your gas guzzling planet destroying suburban only carries your fat ass and your wife.

Try again, idiot.

Again, if carbon output and environmental things were the real issue then your problem would be with the bus not my personal vehicle. DC metro buses consume approx 89,000 gallons of fuel a year. I consume approx 315 gallons for personal use. Your bus uses more gas and adds more carbon in less than 2 days than my suburban will add in a year.

So if carbon output is really bad why aren’t you yelling for the elimination of all diesel buses? We all know the answer but only some of us will admit it.

The bus carries 70 people at a time. If we didn't have a buss, we'd all have to have our own personal Shitter mobiles, increasing the amount of pollution by 70x.

How's that for facts.

89,000/70 is around 1,200 or 4 times what fatty puts in his planet killer*. So if the bus runs 12hrs a day you would have to sit on it every day for 3 hrs to equal fatty’s gas usage.

If he uses 300 gal he goes about 2,500 miles, how far does a DC bus go in 3 hrs times 365? 3hr times 10mph times 365 is four times that.

I am actually a fan of public trans but how often are any of those buses anywhere close to filled? I see many that regularly run empty or close to empty. I do think that E buses are feasible if they can do quick charges at stops between routes.

Most of the buses in DC I ride on are full. Also, who cares if they are full, that is the point of public transit, numbnuts.

The topic of this discussion is efficient use of energy. You make the statement that a bus is efficient because it is carrying 70 people. I merely pointed out that I frequently see big diesel spewing busses rolling around with none or maybe 2 or 3 riders.

I understand that buses won’t always be packed and that even a half full bus is a pretty effective use of a resource. But that frequently isn’t the case. So to use the number 70 as if it is some sort of average number makes you look like a dumb fukk.

But then, most everything makes you look like a dumb fukk

Keep up your lies. You are straw man masters.

I don’t hate transit at all. Heavy rail, most light rail and most subway systems are solid. Bus systems on the other hand are usually a waste of space. And as has been pointed out have little to do with carbon reduction.

Unions are just meh to me. I have had the opportunity to join two unions and passed on joining both times. I have a big problem where taking a job means forced union membership. But if people want to join a union and membership isn’t required for employment then go right ahead. But make no mistake unions exist to get more money for less work for their members. Why would anyone worth more than duck spit choose to agree to a wage scale that rewards only time in position rather than the individuals effort and hard work is short bus dumb.

Since a lot of successful business's are ran by GOP owners and boards, it should be noted those business's pay a huge amount in transit and payroll taxes to fund your beloved bus systems, which are often referred to as "drug transportation units" that the locals use.

Take away those taxes supporting those money losing transit systems and you and your fellow drug dealers are back to riding your worn out stolen BMX bikes on your daily crack runs.

Actually, transit systems (light rail, etc.) are a lot more heavily subsidized then bus systems. Expensive to build and operate and they tend to serve only those who live withing walking distance of a station. Buses? No requirement to obtain right of way, or spend $$ billions on build-out. Schedules and routes are a lot more flexible and they potentially serve a much larger % of the population.

That's because the GOP exists to strangle transit while liberals use it for labor and political spoils. While both parties continue to dump absurd amouts of money to more and wider roads, cheaper roads, and cheaper gasoline to make single occupancy driving the premier mode of transportation in the US and helping destroy the planet in the process.

Thanks for attending my Ted talk.

SoCal had world class mass transit until the automakers bought the systems and shut them down, turning the region into the commuting nightmare it is today.
