Apparently Seattle schools think math is racist and kids need to know that. So they have put together a committee to add ethnicity to math. Some of the committees questions regarding math:

The framework asks, “Where does Power and Oppression show up in our math experiences?” It wonders, “Who gets to say if an answer is right?”

Sadly for any students who find themselves in such a program, their math skills will be well behind those of other kids who aren’t in such a program. Further this is just more racism by snowflake liberals. History will not be kind to this sort of movement.

So sad what passes for education these days.

The Arabic and the pictograph are both valid. Imagine if they had mixed Base 10 and Base 12 .. or 2.

2 + 2 = 100

Math is supposed to be pure logic. I believe that photo represents logic. It communicates what it is supposed to, to its audience. What it doesn't represent is Common Core.
