News reaches Macon slowly. Malcom punted out 2 years ago.

Holy shit.
Spray has really shit the bed recently, either kicking his own ass in spectacular fashion or just owning himself. A once proud and prolific poster who is a shell of his former self.

Re: Malcolm Young
I would read a book on how AC/DC became the most commercially successful band in the world. Every single ad (it seems) has their tunes on them. I hadn't heard Are You Ready from 1990's the Razor's Edge since probably 1990 but I've heard it 100x in the last two months because it's on during Fox's NFL coverage.

Re: Malcolm Young
I wouldn't call them a shit band. There's far far worse.
Back in Black was the first album/CD I ever bought, in 1992.

Re: Malcolm Young
One must separate them into 2 bands -- the Bon Scott AC/DC, which was awesome, and made Highway To Hell, one of the greatest albums ever recorded. Then there's the Brian Johnson AC/DC, which was a crime against humanity.

Re: Malcolm Young
Every song written after Highway was just a vehicle to get to Angus' tiresome solos. The term "formulaic" doesn't even come close to describing their sound.

Easily my favorite AC/DC tune. Unfortunately, Wags isn't here to give us the final ruling.

Re: Malcolm Young
The most boring drum work you'll ever hear in rock and roll. And no, Phil Rudd is not a bad drummer...all he was asked to do was THUD-THUD-THUD behind Angus' pentatonic runs.

Phil Rudd is not a bad drug kingpin... he just got caught.

Re: Malcolm Young
Actually, if you listen to some live tracks... yeah, he's pretty bad.

Re: Malcolm Young
Rudd could be replaced by any half-way competent garage band drummer.
Spray and Marty say he's good enough, but just wasn't called on to do more.
Bullshit.
That way of thinking may have applied earlier in rock. But people like Ginger Baker and Bonzo changed things.
If he had a "Moby Dick" in him, we'd have seen it.

I must modify my previous comment.

And just in case you want to go to the "well, he's old there" card........
Buddy is old and sick during this. He had a heart attack right after this performance. Some think he may have even started during his solo.

They were solid. But next to led zeppelin, they were small potatoes.
Never forget that buddy.
