I don't question anything he says. I just question his apparent dismissal of the notion that the only engine left just might be suspect. If you do give this possibility even the slightliest thought, then getting it down RIGHT FUKKING NOW, becomes pretty much your only priority. A distant second would be make it as light as you can, partly because, should it become one, heavy gliders suck, and because even a powered craft at that weight, risks damage on landing.
Contrast this to the worse case scenario for those on the ground. They need a shower and a change of clothes.

Do you know when the dump began? My guess is that as soon as he knew he was turning back, he started dumping. As you yourself said, he never asked to dump. This is because he decided he didn't need to. He has more important things to worry about.
Delta certainly does have some apologizing to do, because it is their plane. That is not debatable. Their shit had a failure. It is their reponsibility.
But the pilot did everything perfectly. He put a broken plane back at the gate without a scratch. No one was injured. There are some assholes on the ground who smell a payday and will complain. Some of your parasitic bretheren will fan the flames as best they can and I am certain some will be paid way more than they should be for getting less petroleum on them than your average mechanic gets on himself in a typical day.

Tiny ambulance chaser wants the pilots to dump fuel at 8000 feet. Thing is they very well may have been dumping shortly after they decided to return to LAX. I haven’t seen one thing where we know when the dump process started. It very likely may have started at 8000 and continued to just short of touchdown.

They knew, as the pilot in your video knows, that they could land heavy. They also knew that it would be a tough landing and that it was in their interest to land as light as possible. They just weren't willing to trade away time for more weight loss.

That being the case, we actually will have facts. I am fairly confident that we'll find that fuel dumping happened very early. Likely within seconds of making the call to return to LAX.

Lefty, you are likely better than the rest of us at judging an aircraft's altitude. Could you give an estimate for the video shot from the ground that shows the fuel trails?
My guess would be that he was still at least a mile high. A triple 7 is a pretty good sized aircraft and it looks fairly small there. Also in the video, you see the trails extending behind it and into a turn. They may extend a good bit further, but it is off screen.
Whatever it's altitude was, I am pretty sure it was more than 3k.

I do not see that fact established as of yet. I do see a video of the jet venting fuel at what I estimate to be a fair bit higher than 3K.

Derron s video does show a Delta jet dumping fuel. It says they are approximating it’s location in the video with the radar track. If they are close then we know they are under 3000. Guessing altitude is difficult from video as we don’t know how zoomed in it is.

He had at least one engine so he could have taken dump vectors.
He had 370 knots of airspeed at 8k so he could have dumped at higher altitude for longer.

He had almost 1300 ft of runway.
My vid shows heavy landing with that plane is not a huge issue.

We will assume you meant 13,000, as 1,300 out of the minimum 8000 ft required, with just reverse idle thrust is not shit. Your proof reading sucks as bad as your takes.He had almost 1300 ft of runway.
Since you really have no fucking clue, let's talk about the single engine reverse thrust they needed to try and stop the plane. Normal reverse idle thrust with two engines at landing weight is required to slow the plane down to braking speed within the profile. If you are down one engine, and over recommended landing weight, you are probably pushing the reverse thrust up quite a bit over idle so you can get to braking speed, the reason for wanting the 13,000 feet. And that is asymmetrical thrust too, so a different set of control surface inputs will be required, another complicating factor. He probably may triggered an engine replacement on the good engine due to the out of profile landing numbers. You do know the on board computers will give that information up.
