Is it true Mr. Iraola, the Mexican guy with the mic, is angling for entry into local politics? He has a very interesting backstory. But the worst he can come up with is the taco story -- which sucks, but isn't 'my kid was tracked into special ed in spite of scoring such and such'. The story sounds more like a traditional ni.g.ga wakeup call, lighter shade of brown edition, than straight discrimination.

As further illumination, if everyone in the room knew the speaker's backstory, that puts a different spin on the white guy's exasperation and shoulder shrug.

I think it would have resonated more for that particular audience for his white wife to tell that story. I believe a white parent relaying a story of being victimized by bad behavior would hit home for that audience, more. There is no true equivalent of coal burner/mudshark for white women who marry non-black non-whites.

Mr. Iraola needs to put the mic down and let Mrs. Iraola speak on this one.
