Prolly all singers will be masked for the foreseeable future. This show is just a little bit ahead of its time.

Not long ago I learned that now, most game show audiences are paid actors.

Deal or No Deal was an example I was given.

I heard this as well, but instead of them all being ‘actors’ most are extras.

They're paid to be there and act however the director tells them.

An "extra" is just a non-speaking actor. Jess the Rookie can explain it.

Correct. But there is a huge pay gap and limits on what is provided during the day like catering and trailers and the like.

I learned all about this one summer 7 years ago when I was part of the cast of the movie, My All-American. I played a football official. We were asked to join SAG since there was dialog that would be captured as part of the interaction with the players. All 9 of us declined. There was a good amount of hemming and hawing and some veiled threats. We didn't care and were ready to walk, but someone smoothed things over. SAG wanted like $2K plus just for the honor of joining. Screw that.

I can't see myself ever working on a movie again. It was long days of sitting around on your ass doing nothing. Each day we were given a reporting time and it was often 8:00am. We usually didn't get onto the field until 11:00am. Some days lunch was called before we even got on the field. Once on the field it was about 45 seconds of "action" per hour of time waiting. The director and others would huddle and move a camera here or there and we would do the play over again. Then it was a bunch of sit down and wait again.

Aaron Eckhart and Finn Whitrock were the main actors we worked with. Finn was a player, but he didn't do any of the actual football plays. If they wanted a close up of Finn after being tackled or something they would yell freeze and we all had to stay exactly where we were. Then the real football player would be removed from the pile and Finn would take his place. Then the cameras would zoom in and get their closeups of him. Finn was made so much fun of by the actual players that he complained to the producer who had a chat with them at one break. Finn and Aaron had no use for any of us which was fine with me and the other officials. I was told that it was because we refused to join the SAG.

17 days of getting paid $600 a day to work maybe 4 minutes. No thanks. And extras had to sit in the July sun in 1960s period clothing for hours on end. Those people must really be desperate or bored.

I don't know about Deal or No Deal...but I know shows like Judge Judy and Peoples Court are paid actors.

I was in a audience one time and I wasn't a paid actor...but I had to sign a release form....

In my experience there was a person that told us to cheer and cheer and cheer
and this was done separate and then edited into the scene when appropriate.

Price is Right aren't paid actors...I know for a fact...
On Judge Judy the spectators in the audience are paid actors...

I think you are half right.

Oh, dear. The horror of a making $600 dollars a day for showing up on set. Didn't they know you have children to feed?

$600 a day isn’t enough for complete boredom. We all have a number but $600 ain’t it for me.

Mrs.O. and I went to see a taping of Wheel of fortune over in Ft. Lauderdale. Must be we missed where we were to get paid. (-:
They tape Mon-Wed shows one day and Thurs.Fri shows the next day. We were in the first set of shows. Had Q and A with the announcer. Found out winners don't get paid till the show airs. Also, if they win a car they get to pick the color. We all clapped on Q. My hands were bothering me by the 3rd show. Made me realize Vanna isn't really clapping but pretending. The first show winners won $100,000 in their bonus round. Took a while for them to clean up and reset the confetti that they used. It was interesting.
