You should read Nassim Nicholas Taleb. He is the author of a bunch of great reads. The Black Swan is one that is relevant to this situation. And people will falsely claim that they saw it coming and would have had the country in better shape to handle it if their people were running the show. But it is horse shit. No one was pimping pandemic preparedness even as recently as last fall. Team D was intent on trying to remove Trump from office other than by an election. No world leaders were warning about this. It was completely not on the radar. It is a random event, and we do not completely understand it yet today. So your questions presume the impossible (i.e., the ability to predict that which cannot be predicted and prepared for). All we can do is judge the effort and effectiveness of the response to the Black Swan. If it is not acceptable, then changes should be made. If it is the best we can expect under the circumstances, then we should acknowledge that too.

There is going to be an enormous amount of data to review after the immediacy and fear of this event has subsided. I keep looking at the numbers. They don't justify the action, in my opinion.
