Florida has 2 million more people than NY. They have a very old population. CV ought to be decimating FLorida.

According to your link, Florida has 600 and change deaths. NY has north of 10K.

So, given the age demographics and the fact that people flock to Florida for tourism year round, I would say they've done a pretty good job.

I don't have numbers in front of me, but I have heard figures of 90% or more are over 70. Of the remaining 10% the large majority had other pre-existing health issues.

Same was the case with swine flu. In fact swine flu seemed to have a taste for younger folks, presumably because they didn't have existing immunity from previous similar flus.

The nubers of those getting it would have been higher, but the population as a whole would have been more able to deal with it next go round.

Their system is completely overwhelmed, and is made up of 30 year old architecture that was budgeted and allocated to be replaced in 2009, but still has had nothing done to this date.
