One of the all time greats. A pioneer of Rock n roll.
Only 87. That's not as old as it used to be.
Jerry Lee is still kicking.
That era in music history has no equal today.
Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of music happening today, but what we saw and heard in the 1950's, was an explosion that may never be equaled.
It literally, according to Paul McCartney and Jimmy Page, and many other all time greats, set the stage for everything that came after.

Zeppelin, Floyd, Hendrix, the who, the stones, beatles, etc...the list is endless, goes on forever.

Can anyone seriously say with a straight face, that today's music comes anywhere near that level of GREATNESS?

No.

There is good new stuff, but it doesn't get the pop attention it did in the day. The result is that some of these groups eventually say fuggit and move on.

Ni.ggas don't care, as long as you're entertaining. He lived his best life (to borrow from the kids) in a time when he could have been killed just for being himself. He was a pioneer beyond merely music. He had balls.

Otis Redding was from here. James Brown lived here for a while growing up. You could almost call it the birthplace for R&R and Soul music. Definitely southern rock...
