Re: The Palace
Why are you spazzing out in this thread?
I saw no post or thread about THE PALACE, so I started this discussion.
No big deal.
Two of our esteemed board members are Michiganians.
Maybe they have something to say about -----> THE PALACE.
Or maybe someone(s) else has something to say about the building, which hosted concerts and important sporting events for over 30 years.
The building figured into American culture during our lifetimes.
So comment on it if you have something to say.
Or would you rather we beat the political talk into oblivion some more?

Re: The Palace
The irony about the Palace was that it arguably the most successful privately built, owned and operated sports arena in the US. Built by former Pistons owner Bill Davidson in the late 80s, he used zero public funds. He also renovated it multiple times and kept it as a first rate arena all the way through the late 2010s, when the team was told to coke fiend and Platinum Equity owner Tom Gores and they moved downtown to the new Little Caesars Arena.
I only went there a few times, once for MSU vs BGSU in 2000 and a Blue Oyster Cult concert a few years after. I don't have much connection to the Palace as I am not from metro Detroit. It was located in the way north burbs and had no neighborhood for fun before or afterward. But if you were a Pistons fan, it had tons of legendary moments. And the Malice the Palace.

I have it on good authority that he sat on one of his wind chimes last night.
Obviously, you've never had wind chimes stuck up your arse!
