Bigger than Football

Post by Bill in Houston »

This doesn’t look like it could draw the same level of attention as kneeling during the anthem did/does.
ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions canceled practice Tuesday to protest the shooting of Jacob Blake by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin, instead choosing to address reporters as a team in front of their building to deliver a message that they will be part of the change in the United States against police brutality
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/29 ... -wisconsin

Could this be a sign of political pressure, or is it athletes stepping it up in the new environment, doing more than an anthem protest?

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- The Toronto Raptors held a team meeting before Tuesday's practice to discuss how they could respond to the shooting of Jacob Blake by police in Wisconsin -- including potentially not playing against the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of a second-round playoff series Thursday.
No stunt.
No joke. Wheels are moving.

Change gonna come.

Well? Ya got me. What with more than a few variables omitted.

Ya know what? I give up. Why don’t you tell me.

You're right about that, Buttfuck Bill. There are going to be lot of unemployed former professional athletes.

The only suspense is which league folds first. I'm going with NFL. Smallest margins and highest overhead. The TV money will dry up and they will blow away quickly.

Millennials and zoomers don't give a fuck about the NFL anyway. The NFL a headless chicken. Stone dead but still running around the barnyard for a few more minutes.

That’s right, burn it down.

Billionaires taking from millionaires and everyone else they can. Time for a change. Let those that deliver the value receive and control the reward. Melt ALL the leagues. Complete change.

Oh yeah, NOBOBY gives a fukk if you care or not.

You don’t believe we’ll return to anything normal. Cuz you’re a frightened bitch. The world will move on with or without you.

Change gonna come.

A peaceful protest against the unjust killing of an unarmed black man by police, and you give zero fucks.

So noted.

I hoped you were better.

Who says it was unjust? And what the fuck difference does it make what color he is?

Oh, and he's not dead, btw. He's just paralyzed from the waist down. I guess he won't be committing sexual assaults anymore. You see that's justice.

You wouldn't know justice if it fucked you up the ass and wiped its cock on your drapes

Do your job, which you are grossly overpaid to do, btw.

Do your personal activism on your own time and dime.

This is not difficult.

And a shit troll comes floating their turd across the board again. So tedious.

You have no idea what’s going on. You login and mash your head on the keyboard.

There have been multiple unjust killings and shootings of unarmed black people. Maybe if your head wasn’t buried so deep in your ass you would be aware of events.

People are protesting this outrageous police activity. If you had any brain capacity beyond craving phallus stuffed in your ass you might be aware.

Fuck it. You’re hopeless. Float away turd.

Generally, yes.
I have a pretty strong "libertarian" streak, though, that those '80s R's did not embrace.

Regarding this issue, my view is not political.

Policing of the black communities is a legitimate issue, and there have been problems for a very long time.
If a high profile athlete(s) wants to become active in dealing with it, I think that is good.

The problem I see is that you can't have players saying, "I perceive this social problem, so therefore I have a right to do such and such in my place of employment."

This is the path of anarchy.
It will lead to the destruction of the goose that laid the golden egg.

These dumbfvck players are shooting themselves in the foot now and they don't even know it.

Joe fan is not down with their actions.

Lol, get real. JUBMs summarily executing unarmed criminal suspects pre-trial with impunity is leading to anarchy. Not a bunch of football players taking a practice off to protest JUMBs murdering unarmed criminal suspects pre-trial.

I'm not talking about social anarchy.
I'm talking about anarchy within a sports league.

Juiced up badge monkeys have exactly nothing to do with the NFL.

Players kneeling, players canceling practice, NBA players saying they won't play a game...

pffft...

It is absurd.

You know, innocent animals are killed to make footballs and other NFL equipment.

https://www.si.com/nfl/2019/01/31/how-c ... een-wilson

Are we going to get a group of players bent out of shape about that?
Refusing to comply with team protocol until this situation is rectified.

Or bent out of shape because of the blatant sexualization of female cheerleaders?
A group of players saying they will not be following team protocol until this blatant objectification of women is rectified.

Or what about all of the alcohol commercials that are shown on sports telecasts?
Aren't they aware of the carnage alcohol deals to society in numerous ways?
So we get a group of players deciding this must change, or we will not be practicing[/Iverson].

I am not approaching this from a political point of view, but some clearly want to.

So think about it...

Like it or not, white males overwhelming pay the freight for these sports leagues.

So if lefties think the acting out of these overpaid jackoffs is working against Trump, they should think again.

Yeah, I wasn't addressing it from a political angle at all either. I was thinking you maybe had some decent human spirit, simply that.

Clearly that was a mistake.

I judged that you might actually think human life was more important than you getting to watch your games how you like.

Clearly that was a mistake.

You’ll allow your athletes to protest injustice and murder and racism, as long as it doesn’t interfere with your games! You’re one compassionate muthah. You equate animal skins, cheerleading and beer commercials, with black lives. Or you don’t give a shit about any of it, especially if it disrupts your games.

I didn’t see any of that from you. Now I know.

Pop,
“They can’t do something about A and have it mean anything to me unless they also doing something about B, C, D, E, ....”

That is just your way of sidestepping the issue, it’s also a fallacy. The same can be said about every person on every issue. Back up and try again.

Well that's true.

These deplorables the masters put up on the screen in front of Amerikans every night are all willfully useful idiots.

All the world's a stage...

At any rate, the NBA has not been watchable for decades.

The whole circus is nothing but a laff to me.
