So Mrs TWIS and I took a trip to Utah to visit some friends who moved to Park City a couple years ago. It was not the vacation we planned when I booked the flights back in March, but it was an amazing trip. Left July 3rd and returned 7/11, we hiked 6 straight days approx 58 miles all together.
Here a few pics....
Had a few hour layover at the Denver airport had a beer and a sandwich to kill some.
This storm was coming through, thankfully, it didn't cause any delay's for us, was kinda cool to watch it blow by.
1st day of hiking was the Park City ski resort.
Day 2 hike was at the Wasach National Park, great scenery and views went about 11k ft. A bunch of these mountain lakes a fair amount of campers.
Here is our lunch spot...
The peak in background is mostly slate (according to our friends) and is a bitch to hike so I'm glad we skipped it.
Next day we traveled SW to Goblin Valley State Park about 3.5 hrs from Park City. This place had the coolest rock formations, too bad it was 104' that day.
We traveled another hour or so SW to Capital Reef National Park where we stayed at a B&B in Torrey and hiked the next three days. This place is incredible, if you ever have the chance, check it out. Way less crowded than Zion/Bryce/Arches and has all the sites, we barely scratched the surface of this park in 3 days.
Some cool petroglyphs from 300 - 1300AD, apparently this tribe just disappeared.
This was a pilgrim passage, the 2nd pic has names and dates of people traveling through the pass, it was a registry in case of floods or other reasons they may not have made it.
Last day we went to the Olympic Center and there happened to be some kids training. Pretty impressive, they were young teens at most.
This was our view at dinner on the mountain.
I have a ton more pictures, but don't feel like posting any more.
Absolutely gorgeous scenery all over the state, will definitely go back to see more. Not a fan of the drinking laws, but when in Rome...

did you run into anyone loitering around the various rocks and whatnot that intimated to you that they gave a fat fucking rat cock?

hakol beseder..
I miss taking my yearly trip from San Francisco through Nevada/Utah to Wyoming on my way to Larkspur, Co.
Park City is one of my stops on the way to Wyoming and Colorado (I-80).
Be good to yourself, TWIS.
I'm glad you made it out west... (the Mountain West).
Great pics !!!

Nice. Some looks like a John Ford western was shot there.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Those pictures are haunting. Where are the original people? Were you able to see their homes?
When you're ready to post the rest, it would be nice to see. Thank you.
