I hate to go Poptart, but the game and ideals have changed.
The
character of the NFL has gradually been stripped away over the past few decades.
Free agency is not a good thing.
In times past, teams could
build something, over time.
Fans in cities could grow attached to, and identify with, the team.
The league has become "cookie cutter," and all of the teams look very much alike.
Instant replay is horrendous (leave the game on the field), and it has become like 7-on-7.
Shot-gun, pass, shot-gun, pass...
Blech!
There is no character, or at least very very little, compared to the past.
Now with the pandemic you've got fake crowd noise being pumped at the fans, and it sounds ridiculous.
And the players, needing to "grow their brand."
The NFL now is like bubblegum rock, and the game is marketed to the low IQ viewer.
Boring.
