RIP Tommy
As a kid, and Yankee fan in the 70s, I absolutely loathed LaSorda, but enjoyed the hell out of seeing him interviewed since retirement. Bet he would have been fun to have a beer with and talk about baseball years ago.

Yeah, I’m wit you.
Hate him for every time he beat you.
Yet tip the cap for all he did.
A true champion. You can not take away what he achieved. And it was truly great. To Tommy.

RIP. As I may have mentioned before, I actually talked with him one time when I was a caller to the Jim Rome Show and he was filling in for Rome. He thought I sounded like a guy from Chicago that he knew. That was funny because everyone else knew I have a slight NY (brick) accent.

Re: RIP Tommy
Pre-Twitter, a guy like T. Lasorda was seen by fans as a cartoonish little character of a man.
In the Twitter era fans would unfortunately probably find out that he was a boorish jackoff.
Not saying he necessarily was, but social media has exposed a whole lot of players, coaches, etc, as -----> m0ronic tools.
Anyway...

That fat little wop is definitely in the swearing HOF. He's right up there with Earl Weaver.

The Wash Post story on Lasorda had in its lede: "Growing up in Allentown, PA, Tommy Lasorda liked to do two things: fight and play baseball."Softball Bat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 5:38 am Pre-Twitter, a guy like T. Lasorda was seen by fans as a cartoonish little character of a man.

As a lifelong hater of anything Dodger, I guess I still have to give him his props. But fuck him anyway.
One of the worst, most sickening, images that will forever remain burned into my memory is Kirk Gibsonrunning limping out that HR with his first in the air. Motherfucker wasn’t even a Dodger.

Uhhh, he somehow managed to figure out a way to allow him to dress and gen bat in the game.
So, somebody thought he was a dodger.
Whenever I see that play, I still can’t figure out how that ball gets out. It was a decent pitch, low and outside and he appears to be just trying to slap it the other way. I knew Kurt was a big kid with a little power, but damn.

Re: RIP Tommy
Nice to see dan's college room mate weigh in.
Yeah, that pitch is the type that could maybe be taken yard to the opposite field.
But Gobson flicked his wrists at it, hit it clean, and pulled it for a HR.
Epic moment!
