However, having native heritage does not give you tribal membership, which is what counts for putting that down on any official documentation where 'American Indian preferred' comes into play for jobs, scholarships, grants, housing, medical, etc. Warren had no tribal affiliation, but was claiming American Indian status for schooling and hiring preferences purposes.
