Props to Manchin
Props to Democrat Joe Manchin for standing up for all of us and refusing to vote for a huge spending bill that was full of tricks and gimmicks in claiming it was fully paid for. It also puts and end to SALT deduction expansion for the rich.
Props to you Manchin.
Now if you could just get the rest of your fellow congress members (GOP included) to continue to cut spending we will all be better off in the long run.

Funny you didn’t say that when he voted FOR the Cares Act. Or when he voted for 780billion for defense.
You are a POS.

Okay, props to Manchin here, but it doesn't matter.
If someone cannot tell that our economy is totally and hopelessly c0rkskrewed into the ground already, they live in... la-la land.
A land of make-believe.
A land where 52 story buildings implode into the ground without being touched, blatantly doctored pdf files are official birth certificates, juvenile reality TV stars make good presidents, and water actually clings to the outside of flying, whirling, balls.
Wakey?
Our economic system will be obliterated -- and it will happen swiftly.
Pain, anguish, death, "What happened?," "Where's my 401K?," and "Your new home is in mom's basement" will be the flavor of the day.
A new economic system will be ushered in, and it will be significantly less than -----> delightful.
This is all described in the earlier pages of the *DOOM* thread.
Just so's ya know, we are not going back to 2019.
Most likely next week will be very consequential.
The week of the 26th to the 1st of 2022.
But we'll see...

Of course Manchin is just looking out for "his" people...

https://thehill.com/business-a-lobbying ... reconsiderCoal miners' union urges Manchin to reconsider opposition to Biden plan
The United Mine Workers of America (UMWA), which represents West Virginia coal miners, urged Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) on Monday to revisit his opposition to President Biden's Build Back Better plan.
The labor union noted that the bill includes an extension of a fund that provides benefits to coal miners suffering from black lung disease, which expires at the end of the year. The UMWA also touted tax incentives that encourage manufacturers to build facilities in coalfields that would employ thousands of miners who lost their jobs.
“For those and other reasons, we are disappointed that the bill will not pass,” Cecil Roberts, the union’s president, said in a statement. “We urge Senator Manchin to revisit his opposition to this legislation and work with his colleagues to pass something that will help keep coal miners working, and have a meaningful impact on our members, their families, and their communities.”

He’s still part of this broken political machine, that essentially represents the overhead that is sinking our country.

So he can propose a bill that extends the black lung fund. No need to increase spending by $1.75 Trillion just to get a black lung fund continued.

Re: Props to Manchin
Because when a group attempts to "overthrow" a government they usually get professionals to do it not a bunch of ANTIFA welfare pricks swinging hockey sticks. Nothing says revolution like a hockey stick you stupid fuck.
Re: Props to Manchin
Nobody said they had an ounce of common sense between them.
That doesn’t mean they weren’t trying to overthrow the elected government. Just monumentally stupid.

That he did. Chump.
Meanwhile lots of info and data has been shared on that topic. Plenty of failures and blame to go around. But one of the major contributors was EPA regulations that had unintended consequences.
For example the EPA mandated that pumping stations on gas pipelines must be powered by electricity. In most cases those were previously natural gas powered. As electric demand shot up, these pumping stations began to fall offline which only made the problem worse. Texas has sued for relief from this and this winter most of the pumping stations will go back to being powered by natural gas.

He doesn't give a fuck about his image apparently. Split to comfort while others (who voted for him) are without utilities and when they get the juice back it costs$$$.
I am dissing him for being a self centered narcissistic ass. Approaching sociopath status. God bless the texas voters for electing him.
He is a US Senator. He has fukk-all to do with Texas power grid issues directly.
This was a failure of a system that has been artificially pushed in directions that make no sense by state/federal naaaaaazi regulators. Just like Cali.
Hopefully they've learned something and will avoid future problems, but, I doubt it. As long as the green power utopians have a say, they'll be subject to 3rd world style grid stability.

Re: Props to Manchin
Make no mistake the green power drive had plenty to do with it. Not all of it directly though, see the above EPA example.
But there was plenty of local poor decisions as well.
