The poised and calculating support for Barry Bonds to get into the Hall is on, aiming with real resolution to get the most psychopathic narcissist in the history of American sports somehow absolved and celebrated. Who's behind it..(look at my left eye, it's winking) ??
But are these same folks supporting A-Rod's similarly gaudy statistical claims to Cooperstown? Of course not, though both of these all-time great hitters were fully embarked on a program of PEDs, a detailed and refined system of administering and controlling the untraceable drugs that would be the envy of Professor Moriarty himself--or Lance Armstrong. For example, imagine taking an under the tongue lozenge--just a tiny one--in the second inning, knowing it will kick in in the 6th, or 45 minutes later. And having this timed sequence with a variety of specialized lozenges set and ready every inning of every game. A-Rod detailed this elaborate procedure in his tell-all, and his kiss-off to any Cooperstown consideration.
The real crime in the fetid corps of HOF voters, however, is the astonishing exclusion from this year's roster of candidates of Rafael Palmeiro, a genuine Hall of Famer with marvelous stats--and no PED spike whatsoever.
Those stats? 3020 hits, 569 bombs, 1835 RBIs, .288 lifetime average and an even percentage of strikeouts to walks.
His one-time violation of the absurd rules was minor at best, and he wasn't even suspended. It was some sort of antihistamine, and yet apparently because of his finger-wagging display before the ludicrous congressional "investigation" he was treated like Helen Thomas--whoever she was...

Well let's consider that Selig was indeed the commish when the entire Roids Era was ushered in--with the Chicks Love The Long Ball campaign. And look at how many teams are owned and run by members of the Tribe. Consider the makeup of the HOF voters--yep, about 80-% MOT. So...? Maybe..

All 3 should be in. Bonds had a HOF before he became a rood freak. Big Papi is the greatest post season clutch hitter of his generation. Maybe all time. When dude was locked in during the post season he was unbelievable.schmick wrote:Curt Schilling is far more deserving than Baroid Bonds or David Ortiz
He pitched in an era of juice monkeys and had better stats than a lot of pitchers in the HoF. Rings with multiple teams, amazing postseason stats and he was never suspended for or expected of being on any PEDs.
There is absolutely no reason to keep Schilling out of the hall except the voters are members of the corporate press and Schilling was a Donald Trump supporter years after Schilling retired from MLB.
Schilling would be in if he kept his politics to himself.

Palmiero should, imo, be on the ballot.LTS wrote:The real crime in the fetid corps of HOF voters, however, is the astonishing exclusion from this year's roster of candidates of Rafael Palmeiro, a genuine Hall of Famer with marvelous stats--and no PED spike whatsoever.

However, I would not vote him IN.
Outstanding player with longevity, but made just 4 all star games in a 20 year career.
Not a single time did he finish in the top 10 in voting for league MVP.
He is like Curtis Martin (HoF) in the NFL, who was consistently excellent, but not truly GREAT.
Bonds, Clemens, and Schilling should all be IN the hall.

All-star appearances are a minor indicator. But 3020 hits and 569 fucking bombs is extremely elite company. And a .280 average with almost 600 doubles. He's first ballot all the way.Softball Bat wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 3:06 amPalmiero should, imo, be on the ballot.LTS wrote:The real crime in the fetid corps of HOF voters, however, is the astonishing exclusion from this year's roster of candidates of Rafael Palmeiro, a genuine Hall of Famer with marvelous stats--and no PED spike whatsoever.

But the real hypocrisy going on in the current HOF umbrage about Bonds and Clemens is that none of these pundits are supporting A-Rod. Every single argument being offered for excusing Bonds' egregious PED abuse applies exactly to A-Rod. And unlike A-Rod, who came clean and admitted everything in detail. Bonds had his trainer lackey do TWO YEARS in the county jail for refusing to admit anything.
