What evidence do you have of this "great economy"?
Would it be the "economic growth", which is, of course higher than it was in the previous year because we turned the whole fukking thing off?
Any numbers for 21 can't be pimped as high growth because they were higher than the year before. You want to impress anyone, show yearly growth with respect to '19. It isn't hard, even for a mouth breather like you.

Omicron was supposed to wreak havoc on the labor market. But it didn’t.
The jump in January hiring has underscored the economy’s growing capacity to weather renewed waves of surging coronavirus cases, suggesting a tight job market is forcing companies to retain workers now that hiring new ones has become costlier and more difficult.
Unlike previous waves of the virus, when businesses were quick to pause operations and lay off workers, many are now going to greater lengths to hang on to their employees. Overall, U.S. employers added 467,000 jobs in January, with much of those gains concentrated in hotels, restaurants, retailers and other services.
“Omicron was hugely disruptive — millions of workers were absent due to illness, office reopenings stalled, hiring and job searches slowed down — and yet the job recovery continued,” said Julia Pollak, chief economist at ZipRecruiter. “Employers did not yank job postings and run for the hills. Hiring remained robust and in the end, the economy barely sneezed.”
If earlier patterns between covid cases and employment had held true, she said the spike in illnesses in January would’ve translated to 2.3 million job losses. Instead, businesses of all kinds have learned how to quickly adapt. Restaurants and stores are increasingly offering curbside pickup and takeout, for example, while offices are allowing more employees to return to working remotely. Vaccines and other preventive measures like masks have also made it safer for employees to continue working even during a surge in cases.
“Businesses and employers are learning how to live with the virus,” Labor Secretary Marty Walsh said in an interview. “Companies have adapted and adjusted. They’re learning how to work with these circumstances.”

Screwey's problem is he thinks everyone should just be an urban soyboy like him. He doesn't live in the real world. He lives in a world where everyone rides their bicycle to the whole foods a half mile away and can carry a week's groceries in his backpack. Then go back to his 300 sq ft efficiency apartment which requires almost no energy to heat/cool. The rest of his carbon footprint is watching netflix on his laptop.Left Seater wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 4:32 amHey Screwy, if nobody cares and we should just all drive less and or get better jobs, then why are two liberal democrats talking about fuel prices? I don't have an issue with this lifestyle. I am a huge fan of getting around by bike. I used to bike commute in my last job some of the time. Now I have a job where I need a car and I might drive 30 or 400 miles that day. I think my record is actually a bit over 600 (Bangor Maine and back in a day). So an EV doesn't really make sense.
His lifestyle doesn't work for many people. It can't, unless we want to go extinct in a few years. Some of us have to take part in the continuation of the species deal. And some of us don't want to live packed in an apartment building. I've lived in apartment buildings. Just not my thing.
Kinda funny how these "pro choice" folks aren't. Not even a little.

Heard that.
Give me my single-family house on 1.5 acres. Living in a packed city with a population density of over 11K per square mile holds no appeal for me. To each their own.
That whole-paycheck store you referenced isn't getting all their produce or meat or seafood from within the District either. But, drive less or get a better job.

And what is a "corporation". Is it some sort of sentient being that makes decisions on its own?Diego in Seattle wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 12:45 pmCitizens United v. Federal Elections Commission, motherfucker.
No, it is a group of people who have put together a legal contract to do something. These people are the corporation. They pay the taxes. Either directly in lowered dividends or they get their customers to pay them. Either way, people pay these taxes.
And what you liberal assholes fail to understand, or just conveniently ignore is that corporate tax rates are a factor in the decision of where to build things. As is excessive regulation.
We will never win the labor battle, so long as people in the 3rd world are willing to work for a fraction of our wages. And that is OK. There are other costs we incur by building things elsewhere, so it is feasible, IF we are conscious of controlling costs where we can. Corporate rates are part of the equation as are regulation and stable labor costs.
A company might take a chance on the labor cost difference if it knows these other costs, but if it thinks that the feds are going to take a third of any profits, why take the risk? Or if it is worried that once everything is up and rolling, it's labor force will decide that it can organize and demand a ridiculous wage because the company is in too deep to pull out.
You fukkers like to point to places you consider socialist utopias, but don't like to admit that they have very low corporate rates. I actually do wish we were a little more like them in some ways. I'd even go along with single payer medical. They do have high tax rates, but they don't pretend that the lions share can be paid by making the rich pay "they're fare share". They actually tax everyone at a fairly high rate.
Time to put on my racist hat now.....
I think such a system could work here if we were 97% Scandinavian. Those fukkers are just good at that stuff. We aren't.

It’s what leftist politicians do best. Print money until there are no trees remaining.
Inflation puts the screws to the poorest people first. Leftist elites and the rich can absorb this, but of course when their politicians need upcoming votes, they’ll blame the effects on inequality and the wage gap, which they themselves created.
Keep printing… and when there are no trees left, blame it on climate change.

Yes, corporate profits are up. Of course they are. EVERYTHING is “up” you fukking moron. It’s what happens when you print this much money.
I am certain that German corporate profits were up when the Weimar Republic was doing what we’re doing now.
And yes pop tard, Trump did it too. Or at least he allowed it to happen. My biggest problem with him remains that he didn’t cut spending his first two years. He was more worried about keeping the smoke and mirrors economy running than putting the brakes on spending. I think this more than anything is why he lost the house in 18.
Of course the mass media’s nonstop promoting of bullshit hit jobs didn’t help things much.

Think that's because of Biden?
Of course that is due to DeathCult46. Under the Cheeto the US was a net exporter of oil. Prices were cheaper because supply was plentiful. Then in comes DeathCult46.
On day 1 in office he cancels the Keystone XL pipeline. This would have added over 800,000 barrels of oil per day.
Then he banned any new leases on Federal lands or in Federal waters.
He followed that up by having the Dept of Interior raise fees on oil and gas royalties and on originating lease deals. This just means it is more expensive for producers to bring oil and gas to the market, which consumers then pay for at the pump or in their electric bills.
On top of that DeathCult46 has been all in on handing out free money which has fueled record inflation. Dude wants to hand out more free money, but thankfully even a few Democrats have said enough is enough.
All of this has lead to less production and tighter supply while demand is growing. So that naturally leads to higher prices and higher profits. So yes, DeathCult46 is directly responsible for those.
Meanwhile your focus on oil company profits is strictly partisan. Why aren’t you bitching about Apple’s continued huge profits? Much of which was kept offshore. Oh that’s right, you are a hypocritical partisan bitch.

Re: Biden voters enjoying this great economy
You accuse me of characterizing your views incorrectly, but then you spout off that I don't have a problem with offshoring. Link?
Also, let us know how it is that Americans need an Apple product to get to work. Or to go to the grocery store. Or to get medical help. Apples & kumquats, mensa.

Re: Biden voters enjoying this great economy
Reading comprehension is not your friend. You should work on it.
I haven’t said what your position on offshoring is nor have I attacked it. The reference was to Apple and their actions. I pointed out that if corporate profits are the issue, then there are other bigger targets you should have started with.
And no dumbass it isn’t “Apples & kumquats” as you like to claim. This is just a fake excuse to attack oil companies and give Apple a pass. The medical field is covered with Apple products. Why aren’t you bitching about Apple’s profit and how if they weren’t so greedy healthcare costs would come down? Same for grocery chains who are using Apple products. Why aren’t you bitching about Apple’s profits and how if they weren’t so greedy food costs would come down? Same for transportation.
So stop with the liberal talking points and face reality. Or don’t. We will be here to kick your ass time and again.
