Before the change, the definition for “vaccination” read, “the act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce immunity to a specific disease.” Now, the word “immunity” has been switched to “protection.”

The term “vaccine” also got a makeover. The CDC’s definition changed from “a product that stimulates a person’s immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease” to the current “a preparation that is used to stimulate the body’s immune response against diseases.”

So when the current shots didn’t do what the CDC said they would, the CDC changed their definitions to match what the shots actually did.

By the CDC’s definition prior to late summer, the current shots would not be considered a vaccine.

By the new and revised CDC definition they are vaccines. Since they didn’t do what was expected the definition was changed to encompass what they actually do.

I was watching a podcast by someone the other day, forget if he was a doc or a stats guy who talked about this disparity of outcome between the vaxed/unvaxed. He pointed out a few things that point to factors other than vax status.

First off, vaccinated people, statistically speaking, tend to be higher income and therefore, in better health on average.

There is another group which the pro-vax propagandists like to ignore. This group is the unvaxed for medical reasons. They are basically too damn frail to be vaxed, so when the 'rona catches up to them, well, you know how that goes.

The bottom line here is that while the vax very well may take some of the steam out of #19, it is not as much as the overall vax/unvax numbers indicate. The fact remains that young healthy people do just fine, regardless of vax status.
