XFL ????
It's back. If you want to watch football----- why not ? Maybe it will catch on this time. Stadium empty, but that can change.

Wolftard: Won't watch the NFL. But will watch the XFL, a shitty version of professional football.
Re: XFL ????
I give it a chance if it sticks to football. Right now there is no other alternative.

NFL just had a season where a dude almost died on the field.

No thanks. “Talent pool” way too thinned.
XFL is garbage.
A league full of Traeshon Holdens. Maybe he can drop balls for the Sea Dragons.

I'm watching the St. Louis Battlehawks @ San Antonio Brahmas game now. It's a low scoring game so far but overall I'm enjoying it.
Definitely not the whininess or watered down play of the NFL! It's interesting how they do kickoffs and punt returns. It's designed to actually have a return instead of a fair catch or letting it go out of bounds.
We might even get to a game or two when they play their home games next month.

So, is that like the San Antonio Hindus? How did they come up with that? :?

Re: XFL ????
I dunno. It's a Texas thing I guess. I had never heard of a Battlehawk until this team.
There was once a minor league hockey team in Fort Worth of the same name.
It's a long the same lines of the dorky names in the CFL like the Alouettes and Argonauts. And then there's the RedBlacks which I'm surprised it hasn't been changed because it might be offensive and sounds like it might be raaaaccciiiss!

RoughRiders changed to the RedBlacks because there were a few teams all named RoughRiders and everyone got confused. Imagine having two different NFL teams both named Cowboys.
I always thought Argonauts was cool name.

Re: XFL ????
Here's what I saw from actually watching an XFL game all the way through and there are some things the NFL should really take note of.
The Alamodome was "sold out." It appears they only sold lower bowl tickets because the upper deck was completely empty. Lower bowl was completely full. I expect that at the Dome in St. Louis (formerly the Edward Jones Dome). The demand is huge here so it wouldn't surprise me if they sell upper deck seats at our dome.
I mentioned kickoffs. They are designed to generate more returns instead of pussing out and doing a fair catch. The special teams offense and defense cannot move after the kick until the receiver catches it or 3 seconds after it touches the ground. The receiver must then advance the ball. If it goes out of bounds or is a touchback, the ball is spotted on the 35.
Incomplete passes, the clock keeps running unless the ball goes out of bounds.
If the play goes out of bounds, the clock stops long enough for the players to get back on the field and then it resumes.
After touchdowns, there is no extra point kick. A team can elect to go for a 1, 2, or 3 point conversion.
If a team gets into a situation where the NFL would do an onside kick, they instead do a 4th and 15 situation from their own 25 which is exactly what happened in today's Battlehawks game.

The game was over in under 2 hours 45 minutes.
Way more action, even though most of today's game was very defensive. It was still overall fast moving and had that ending that would have otherwise been unheard of in the NFL.
This time, the XFL is here to stay. I hope they can expand from just 7 teams and a 2 month season.
