While the axis of Yes, Andersen and Squire,managed to make a couple good albums before Howe joined, it was this trio who made for the real band. And as with a grand Wagnerian composition, the next three albums, culminating with Close To The Edge, comprised the entire entity. Those three albums had all the hits (Owner of a Lonely Heart just doesn't count), and Tales of Topographic Oceans was an ambitious bust, and the subsequent spinoffs all unlistenable. For his part, Steve Howe remains perhaps the proudest rock star in history--read, major league asshole.
