As for the wrestler, his offense was not merely the cowardice of a sucker punch, but to do so while shaking hands--the confirmation of virtue in sports. To betray the sport is in crime of a different level than mere assault. For example, when Kermit Washington ended Rudy Tomjanovic's career with a single massive puch to the face, he could claim he was panicked and simply reacted in fear. Though as you can see, it was a comletely thuggish cheap shot..
And of course for sheer bestial behavior in sports, it's hard to top the Minnesota Gophers, led by Dave Winfield, brutally attacking the Ohio State Buckeyes
But in wrestling, while tempers might flair, there's never this sort of depravity. Here's a typical example of a wrestler getting a bit bent...
