Wasn’t considered racism at the time. Commonly accepted views of inferiority in all manner and impossibility of blacks coexisting with whites.

You know exactly what I meant. The majority, yes the people running the show. It was s very different time with very different attitudes.

We were discussing President Lincoln’s view of blacks. He was white. So, yeah…that was white peoples’ perception of blacks.

Those views remain intact in China, South Korea, Russia, and quite a few other nations.

The key point is: they were NOT polled. You can’t apply today’s thinking/standards/realities to the mid-1800s. Cry all you want, but you can’t change what’s already been.

The consensus then was that blacks were intellectually inferior and that they should not mingle with whites. Get over it.
