Not much unusual going on here except that it seems to be migration time for the local crow community. We seem to be sort of on the edge of their route, which is the San Lius Rey River valley between the local mountains and the coast. They go up to the mountains for the summer and back towards the coast for the winter. Sounds like Zonies, actually. For a few days we can hear them squawking almost constantly and you get groups of dozens flying by at any time. Down near the river (about a mile from here) you can sometimes see them covering all the power lines and trees in thick groups. Sort of like a Hitchcock movie, but they never actually attack.

Perfect fall weather on the Continental Divide. Did some firearms training with our club today. Got the Form 4 back on my SBR in .300 AAC. Now that I have a hall pass from the ATF I plan to build a custom folding short stock and a suppressor for it. I have the suppressor kit. Just need to mill it out. The whole works should come in at about 20".

I originally built it as a pistol with an SB3 stabilizing brace. Then the ATF changed their internal definition of Brace. A brace suddenly became a stock and I had a short barrelled rifle overnight. The ATF provided a grace period for filing a Form 4 for free. I took them up on it and now I can really trick this thing out. With a suppressor and subsonic ammo it's no louder than clapping my hands.

I have a buddy with a Family Trust who guided me through the paperwork. He has half a dozen Form 4 rifles in the Trust.

This suppressor came from SilencerCo. They ship incomplete and I'll have a gunsmith bore the cones.

The trouble with people like Kierland is they're zealots and activists ahead of all other considerations. Everything is viewed through the lens of The Cause and everything they say or do must relate to that Cause. We all have people like this in our real lives and we avoid them because regardless of the message, the messaging gets tiresome.

When my Brother in Law came out as gay in 2012 the homosexual revolution was nearing its Zenith but he still felt obligated to do his part for the movement. Everything in his life became gay-adjacent and he droned on and on about it. Every movie he watched had a gay star. He drove a Toyota because they sponsored some gay event in Cali. One problem is that, over the past 20 years, we’ve all gotten old (at least speaking for myself) and we mostly do old people stuff. I retired last year and it seems like I mostly go to doctors appointments, work in the yard, shop for food and cook. I can only post so many pictures of last nights dinner and the wonderful landscaping behind my pool. And you really don’t want to hear about my prostate. I still have mine, but they did have to drill a bigger hole thru it. Doc told me that due to the infection, it was the nastiest, foul smelling surgery that he's ever done. That was about 10 years ago, but he still talks about it to this day

Here’s what I’m working on today - cutting back last spring/summer’s crop of matilija poppies. That hedge trimmer with an extension works great but it weighs a shit ton. It has another extension I can add but you need to wear a shoulder strap to hold it up.
