Super Bowl LVIII San Francisco 49ers vs Kansas City Chiefs
Welcome to the Show!
Big Boy Football's Greatest Day!
The most spectacular event in human history. It's what separates us from the animals.
The Super Bowl!
First, I'd like to thank our little red-headed stepbrother for letting use his shinney new crib for our regular pilgrimage to the holy land. He certainly wasn't going to be using it any time soon.
I've got one thing to say...
BANG BANG NINER GANG!

Didn't really have a reason to cheer for either team.
Now I do.

KC +2. Hoping for a good game, though I'll be missing the first half for tennis.

The fog is starting to break in The City.
Today is going to be a good day!
Off to Figueroa Street to get wet.

Fuck the Chiefs.
Fuck the whiner Mahomes.
Fuck Kelce.
Fuck the Tomahawk Chop.
CMC goes for 200+ from scrimmage.
Aiyuk and Deebo both 100+.
Kittle 2 TDs.
Purdy little lips “manages” for 350+.
Niners by 3.
Carry on.

We’re up to five on the live Taylor Swift shots.
There might have been six but I wasn’t sure it was live.

Fucking Shanahan!
Gets a lead in the Super Bowl then stops running the ball.
He deserves to lose his 3rd straight Super Bowl.

With the NFL as uptight as it is, you'd think they'd draw the line at overrated "musicians" with face tattoos.

I didn't watch the game but I followed along on Gamecast. I didn't see Post Malone but I'm not surprised he was weird. I've heard enough interviews to know the guy is about 12° off true North.

What happened?
I went out to play tennis during second half. Word on the street is I missed Blue Man Group, they put Buster Keaton to shame.

Re: Super Bowl LVIII San Francisco 49ers vs Kansas City Chiefs
I was pulling for a low scoring game and a SF victory.
The 49ers outplayed KC in the first half, and the 10-3 score at halftime was fairly pleasing.
However, based on the degree to which SF had controlled the first half, just a 7 pt lead, and Mahomes on the other side of the field, left me nervous.
I think K. Shanahan lost his way in the 3rd quarter.
Should have pounded the run a lot more.
But the real turning point of the game was the 49er punt return fumble late in the 3rd quarter.
Mahomes turned that into 7 points on one play, and suddenly SF lost the lead in the game, even though they had pretty well handled KC up to that point.
Shanahan has also been criticized for choosing to take the ball first in OT.
I understand the reasons why people second guess this decision, but I personally didn't think it was an egregious decision.
The '9er defense was pretty gassed as OT rolled around, and putting them out there first in the OT might have been a bad idea.
There are other considerations.
At any rate, congrats to your Chiefs, dave!
For a Super Bowl, you really couldn't ask for a much better game.

Re: Super Bowl LVIII San Francisco 49ers vs Kansas City Chiefs
Given the new OT rules, taking the ball first is dumb. The team with the ball last knows what it has to do, whereas the team with it first doesn’t.
Of course you could argue that the advantage belongs to the other team if the first round of possessions doesn’t decide things.
I believe the Chefs made an error on that drive in the second half where they had 1st and goal on the 4.
They had finally had some run success thanks to a gassed 9er D. And rather than pound it in, they tried throwing it.
When was the last time a special team fukked up that badly?
I’d think rule number one is know where the ball is.

There are a lot of things to consider.smackaholic wrote:Given the new OT rules, taking the ball first is dumb.
Let's imagine what might have happened if SF had chosen to let KC have the ball first in OT...
The SF defense was gassed, so it's not hard to imagine Mahomes leading KC down the field to cash in with 7 pts.
If that happens, the 49ers then have to bank on Purdy (Mr. Irrelevant) leading SF down the field, with no room for error and the season on the line, to put a 7 on the board -- against a KC defense that is really good.
If I am SF, I don't like that scenario very much.

Re: Super Bowl LVIII San Francisco 49ers vs Kansas City Chiefs
Are there any rules designating the spotting the football on PATs?
Can a team chose to place the holder a yard or two further away?
Seems like it might be a good idea. Yeah, it’s a slightly longer kick, but it gives the kicker a little more room to get the ball high enough to not be swatted.
