Weekend Roll Call 3-30-24
I know I just posted a new Accept tune a few weeks
back, but another just dropped this week and they are
hitting 2-2 so far. We still have a ways to go, but this may
be my fave new album since Tool's Fear Inoculum.
1st had a def Priest vibe, this has some also but with
a lot of Metallica from Hardwired. Good stuff.
Great weather on tap here in FOC. Lots of grill biz on
the to-do list, a few honey do's and I will be firing up
the new toy I picked up last week in St Lou again.
Weber's Summit Kamado.
Last weekend , I gave it a test run with some ribs.
Not close in looks to competition quality, but the taste
was certainly in the same neighborhood.
My fellow .net brethren may remember I opined about
this grill with a rather terse rant back about 7 years ago
when it was unveiled by Weber, and certainly with its
pricing. While I still think 2k is a big swing for a charcoal
grill, I retract much of what I said. Lots of bang for the
buck... and even better at an 85% discount.
Reverse sear ribeyes tomorrow for easter dinner.
And speaking of easter.... it's been a while since
I posted what used to be a yearly rant. However, I have a
few minutes this morning, so a rewind is needed for those
that may have missed previous versions.
What a shitty fucking holiday. The worst of them all
by far. You know a holiday sucks when none of the booze
companies have not found a way to profit from it. Candy co's
and clothiers seem to do ok but that's about it. I have
hated this shitty holiday forever, even when I was a kid and
would get the easter basket. What a waste. At first it was
this horrible, cheap ass, fake wicker basket that was eventually
replace by a horrible plastic bucket. Both were filled with
the fake plastic grass, and some of the worst candy ever.
The whole easter bunny gimmick was creepy as fuck also.
Then you have the whole religious aspect of which I was
fortunate enough to have escaped for the most part.
You guys and your christianity bologna. It completely
baffles the hell out of me how you fall for this nonsense.
I can go as far as to agree that abiding by the last 6
commandments is a pretty good way to live your life
and maintain a decent society, but from albeit limited
exposure, that's about as far as I am willing to go. So
much pure, bullshit. So many attempts to bullshit people
into believing nonsense and controlling their feeble minds.
Palm Sunday, Holy Wednesday, Passover, last supper, crucifixion,
resurrection .... JESUS H CHRIST.... just stop it already.
How does anyone with a straight face profess a belief in this?
Seriously? It's like the old timey version of maga.
A bunch of kooks get together, spew a line of crap, and keep
repeating until others start to believe the bullshit.
The next thing you know they have enough of a following to
begin fighting wars and beat people into believing and spreading
the lies. Now I see the path that chump is following.
Let this be a lesson to all of you thumpers errr trumpers.
Eh, enough of this .... I am running out of time and need
to get to Abby, Britney and puppet memes.
I don't have the time right now to give this the full attention
that it deserves, but I will throw it out there and try to get
back to it tomorrow ....

this girl/girls really fucked me up about 15 years ago when they
did the reality show and still do to this day. BTW, THAT SHOW NEEDS
TO BE BROUGHT BACK RIGHT DAMN NOW! So many questions need
to be answered. They married the wrong guy though. They should have
hooked up with the guy from Deadspin. Remember him?
GUY WITH 2 DICKS
And fuck all you "kc2dicks," losers. That story still fascinates the
shit out of me 10 years later. So many unanswered questions about
that freak also.
It's after 4am already, the day is wasting away .... time for
a few memes and to get on with my day....
Dance puppet...
Happy Weekend, Y'all.

Re: Weekend Roll Call 3-30-24
The legislative Session continues, and I continue to stay busy. So far so good, our bills that we're trying to pass are doing so, and the bills that we need to amend or kill, that is happening as well. Long hours though.
Alas my LSU Tigers have not played up to their potential lately, and this weekend series vs Arkansas is the 3rd straight SEC series that they have lost. However, I'll still be at the games, and I'll always remain a Tiger fan.
Yesterday was Good Friday, an excuse to eat seafood even if you're not religious. My first cousin had a few people at her camp yesterday, and so I had a chance to go fishing. Caught a few bream and bass, nothing huge but still was fun.
Then it was time to eat, and yeah we did some eating. I brought boiled shrimp as an appetizer. This was the first plate of frog legs, soft shell crabs, and fried shrimp, we had fish and other stuff as well.
This is my cousin's fryer, the thing works great.
And this was some amazing pie that a friend brought. I had to have the recipe and she gave it to me. The only thing I would do differently is to make a homemade graham cracker crust, but this is good stuff here. Recipe makes 2 pies.
My wife is at our villa in Yucatán, Mexico and she's having fun there. Just me and our little dogs at home. For the first cooking on the grill, it was just a simple steak earlier this week. But today, I'm going to sous vide some Cornish game hens and then put them on the rotisserie. I don't have a recipe that I'm following but it seems that should turn out so we'll see.
Loving the new hot tub, although it is more fun with my wife than alone. Same can be said for life itself.
Dave re Easter, realize that there are people who understand that much of Christianity isn't to be taken literally, but nonetheless they take comfort in the traditions and rituals of religion.
Time to go walk the dogs and get the Saturday started. LSU women's basketball vs UCLA, and game 3 of the Arkansas baseball series are later today. Geaux Tigers! Y'all have a good one.

In.
We had our spring break this past week in Dave's area of FOC. I'll spare you all the family stuff we did and do two highlights of a couple noteworthy meals we had with local fare.
First one is the biggest pizza we have ever had! This is a 26" pie from Fat Sully's in downtown KC. Yes, we devoured the whole thing!
We ended the week by going to Jack Stack BBQ in downtown KC at the Freight House. Thank you Dave for the recommendation! I had the Poor Ross Sando, which is half pound of Chopped Beef, Pork & Sausage Burnt Ends.
That is one of the best BBQ sandos I have ever had! My 2nd choice was going to be the Thursday special which is a jumbo sando, 1/3# Choice of Two: Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, Turkey, or Sausage. It was a real tossup between those two.
The attraction we visited which is not necessarily geared toward families with kids was the WWI Museum, which is right next to Union Station.
If you're ever in KC, this museum is a MUST do! We spent nearly 3 hours there and our two younger kids were kind of getting into it also. Tons of artifacts on display, a timeline from start to finish, how and why the US got involved (2 years in), etc. Great museum that is very well done and honors these veterans as well.

Did not realize that museum existed, I'll definitely check it out if ever I go to KC.
The WWII museum is in NOLA, and it is incredible. Best thing in the city, imo. Definitely go whenever you are in NOLA, and plan on spending the entire day there. One of the best museums in the country.

This experiment worked. Absolutely incredible, literally the best Cornish game hen I've ever had.
