Our local “committee” of turkey vultures, enjoying some sunshine between showers. The one on the pole appears to be conducting the others in the tree. We’ll call him Dudamel.

Good riddance.

It is LSU Day at the Capitol, so of course the newly crowned national champions visited. Did the best I could with the pics, it was during the floor session so I couldn't get closer.
Re: A thread for things that don't warrant their own thread
Wolfman, your Syracuse team is on ESPNU now in a great game vs Towson in the NCAA lacrosse playoffs. 8-8 almost to halftime

Fell pretry hard this morning. Water on the floor after my shower, it happened fast. Don't think anything is broken but bruised and sore now.

I didn't know we had other lax fans in here! [Besides Laxplayer, that is. No spoilers, please...
I was offline with no TV all weekend and am watching the games today & tomorrow. Thanks!

I’m not an NBA fan, but I watch some during the playoffs.
The second half of Dallas-OKC game 6 was a blast. That was some of the best basketball I’ve seen in years.
Wish I’d seen the second half of Nuggets-Wolves last night. I fell asleep when it seemed Denver had it locked up.

Played goalie for TCU, 3x all conference, 3x captain. Then coached LSU for a bit. Alas, had to stop once law school started but it was fun while it lasted.
No spoilers, but the games this weekend were amazing. Those guys are so much better than I ever was, all that shooting behind the back and perfect shot placement would have made me look like a fool in the net lol

Be careful. Accidental falls in the home are one of the leading causes of injury to our older citizens, often leading to long term disabilities and even death. There are a lot of exercises you can do, if not already incorporating these kinds of movements in your daily life, to improve your balance. My wife wants to put handrails in the bathroom and shower, but I’m not quite ready for that. When I can no longer step into my underwear while standing without support, then I might consider it.
Re: A thread for things that don't warrant their own thread
Dude, do that immediately. And while you're at it, install an ADA compliant toilet as well. It is a few inches taller, and you and your wife will be grateful every single day. You'll wonder why you waited so long to do it.

Seriously... I've been a fu<king cripple since a fall on ice on 9 February, 2004, and another fall in a bathroom on 1 August, 2016.
The house of cards has been tumbling since, and i live from my hospital bed. Don't take your mobility for granted.
Trust me, Install those bars before you "need" them.

About the time I think my industry is dangerous I hear stories about office jockeys with their bodies falling apart and wonder if risking my fingers is better or worse than some of the medical stuff you white collar guys go through.
Re: A thread for things that don't warrant their own thread
I've been to a few oil rigs (yes, they were on our property; no, none of them actually hit oil damnit). Seemed like about half of the roughnecks working the rigs were missing fingers.
So HPG, your fingers may be dirty, but at least you still have all of them, props to you. Obviously you're doing something right

Thanks, Roux. I still have all my digits but my fingernails are derpy from being smashed so often. I also have a fair amount of scarring on my corneas.

It's definitely dangerous, in the long run, to sit in a chair all day, then go home and have a burger and a few beers while watching television for six hours, and then go to bed. And repeat every workday for 40 years (if you last that long).HighPlainsGrifter wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 2:41 pm About the time I think my industry is dangerous I hear stories about office jockeys with their bodies falling apart and wonder if risking my fingers is better or worse than some of the medical stuff you white collar guys go through.

Sounds depressing.
I guess this is where big pharma comes in to get their cut with their happy pills.
And don't blame your lifestyle because you can't find your dick anymore. Big Pharma has your back there too.

Just saw an inmate and his girlfriend arrested and in handcuffs for having sex in one of the bathrooms here at the Capitol.

"Russian disinformation"
Starting with Obama's department of Justice, Comey, the special counsel, the Mueller investigation, straight through to TODAY, with left-wing crazy Merrick Garland and his corrupt DOJ, they've been lying repeatedly about President trump. Imagine? The government has been weaponized against the 45th President.
The left is no different from the soviet socialists and nazi socialists who weaponized their governments against their political enemies.
God help us all.
Give us a Reaganesque landslide, circa, 1984

This is day 4 of a crick in my neck that just won't go away. Can't find a position where it doesn't hurt. Kinda frustrating.

What have you done for it so far?

Let's see, I keep a heat pack on it a lot, as much as I can. Hot tub, long hot shower, many muscle relaxers, try to move and stretch it, and massaging it some. It has been awhile since I've had one of these, but I thought it went away in about a day. Not this time.
If this is my biggest complaint now, then things are pretty good. And I realize that and am grateful for that. Still, the damn thing hurts. Really haven't been able to sleep so I'm kinda a zombie now. Hopefully tonight I'll crash hard. Seeing the Governor tomorrow so yeah it would be nice if this went away now.

You'd have to be "air lifted" to the emergency room"
And even then, you'd probably be D.O.A
