Weekend Roll Call 6-8-24

Post by kcdave »

Any Sturgill fans here?

As many predecessors have done, Sturgill will be returning after
his "final album and retirement," with a new album and a new tour,
under a new name ... Johnny Blue Skies in about a month, but he will
be playing his full catalog. You can expect to watch his new track here as
soon as I see it.

Asshole deep in grill work like always today. Got out of going
to my wife's nieces wedding tonight, so I will have the
rare chill night home alone this evening.

I didn't do any advance prep for the WRC this week. No meme, no rant,
or mini-pet. I got caught by another "look, squirrel" diversion that has
taken up my already nonexistent free time .....
looking to buy a zero turn mower. Lots of choices out there, but most
all seem to be about the same. Looking for 42-48, prefer Kawasaki or
Kohler, fabricated deck not stamped, and a good seat. Feel free to
offer up your recommendations.

Happy Weekend, Y'all.

Looking fwd to Tune Town tonight so I can get some relaxation in.

Being the extended family's designated 'tech support' is vastly overrated. Fixing security breaches for thin-skinned people who don't let friendly advice sink in can be soul crushing. Ex, insanely independent, lucid 89 yo relative who won't stop clicking phishing emails. How many times can one say, "DON'T open any emails if you don't know the sender?" Saved her $14K this week. Some scumbag in India fish hooked her, and took over complete control of her iMac and iPad. It took multiple trips to the bank and 2.5 days to do the necessary magic rebuilding the software on her machines. Call the HazMat team - we have a toxic info spill!

Yes, I set up more guard rails to better protect her, but you can't fix stoopid fierce independence. Time to relax until the next breach.

Have a great weekend, all.

This is day two of a nasty crick in my neck. It hurts like hell. But --- if my biggest complaint is a crick in my neck, then things are pretty good and I should count my blessings.

LSU's baseball season has ended, thanks to UNC. I guess I'm pulling for UNC to win the whole thing now.

The Belmont is today. I love watching the horses run, one day hopefully I'll actually attend a Triple Crown race in person.

I think the first thing I cooked on my relatively new grill were some Cornish game hens that I did sous vide and then finished them on the rotisserie. If my neck will cooperate, maybe I'll do some ribs like that, we'll see.

Anyone know how to get rid of a crick in your neck? Y'all have a good one.

damn dude, you're the man!

As for me, I get to perform magnificent feats of yard trimming and do my best to resurrect a Frankenstein's monster of a lawnmower today. It has a nice Briggs & Stratton engine and all the rest is scrap. Well, of course it doesn't start, and so I got a can o' ether yesterday. $7.10 with tax nowadays? sheesh. May the rest of you go forth and conquer your own tasks successfully, with aplomb.

Wish I could help with a zero-turn recommendation, Dave. I sold Ferris, Scag, Dixon, Walker, and Grasshopper mowers, but that was 15 years ago. I loved the Ferris designs. Unique suspension that made for a nice ride. The Scags were tough as hell. Still proud to wear my Scag cap. But lots has changed since I was around them, so I got nuthin’ to offer.

Got the front and side yards cut. Weedeated the hill down to the woods. Trimmed all the shrubs. Washed and waxed wife’s car. Taking a break now, watching the FSU-UConn and Tenn-Evansville games.

Got the backyard to do. Then it’s shower and head out for a mountain of chicken wings. Yep, hopefully I’ll look like Miss Alabama after the wings and gallons of tea !
