Dan Hurley tells Lakers to fuck off.
Here in husky land, everyone has been complaining about how Dan Hurley, that traitor, was gonna jump ship and go to LALA land to pilot the fakers.
I got a kick out of these fukking crybabies and have been calling them out on fb about their whining.
Buncha fukkin' ingrates. Hurley has turned UConn back around and they are now a legitimate dynasty. He did what even St James Calhoun couldn't do, back to back titles. You'd think there'd be some gratitude.
I really have to laugh at those who use the loyalty angle.
Ask Kevin Ollie about loyalty. He won the title his first year with a team inherited from Calhoun, then due to no fault of his own, his ability to recruit vanished when UConn got left out in the cold after the Big East said "fuck football" when the 'cuse and BC jumped to the ACC. UConn ended up in the....what the fukk was the conference? It was the island of misfit toys basically. And with no real conference, Ollie couldn't recruit shit.
A few years later they came up with a reason to dump him and his National Championship salary.
So, yeah, fukk loyalty.
Anyhoo, my take has been "thanks Dan for your work here, but if you want to move onto the NBA for your next challenge, I completely understand. " Of course, I hope you fail miserably because succeeding would mean glory for those left coast douchebags!!!!
Well, it seems that maybe Dan likes it here. I hope he stays a good long time and piles up a truckload of titles.
Now if we could just get into a conference with good basketball and football, perhaps our joke of a football team could do something. But I ain't holding my breaf on that.

Kobe, Shaq, and Phil won 3 titles.
That's pretty excellent.

Yeah that was a great team and fun to watch, and I actually was a fan then, but didn’t compare to Magic, Kareem, Wilkes, Worthy, Byron Scott, Michael Cooper, Rambis, AC Green…as far as being a pleasure to watch working as a team.Softball Bat wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 11:12 pmKobe, Shaq, and Phil won 3 titles.

You have to understand how hard it is me to acknowledge any LA team in any sport, having spent my first 18 years in the Bay Area and 46 of the next 51 in LoCal. The fact that I actually was a Laker fan for a couple of decades is hard for me to reconcile anymore.

There is no denying the greatness of Showtime. Even from a Celts fan who prayed that their team plane would crash into the side of a mountain on a daily basis.

Did you really make that prayer? That's eerie considering that actually happened years later.dan's college room mate wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 1:29 am There is no denying the greatness of Showtime. I think he did it from his iPhone using Tapatalk which could explain the delayed reaction.JPGettysburg wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 1:48 am

There are reasons why staying at UConn makes sense.smackaholic wrote:Well, it seems that maybe Dan likes it here.
The Laker job might pay about twice as much as the UConn job, but Cali taxes are very high, and the cost of living is also quite high.
The NBA is a meat grinder. 82 games + numerous more if you are making a deep run in the playoffs.
It is a lighter load in college hoops.
While the Lakers are one of pro sports biggest "brands," they might not be particularly well run at this time in history.
Turning things around in L.A. is not necessarily easy, and it is complicated more by LeBron's situation.
He has still played at a high level, but he is old, and he cannot carry a championship level team.
A couple/few more excellent players must be added to the mix, and that may be easier said than done in the NBA.
Hurley is very comfortable at UConn.
He has built the strong program. They will be excellent next year, and likely the year after that.
He can possibly win 3 titles in a tow, or more.
Hurley is building himself into a college hoops legend.
Do you want to pull the rug out from under that to take over a job that probably looks better on paper than it actually is?

Good post, pops.
Sort of weird that the Lakers made the pursuit so public? It was a pretty strong slap in the face.

Good information here except that at that level the tax rate and cost of living wouldn’t matter much. It would still be a huge raise.Softball Bat wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 2:32 amThere are reasons why staying at UConn makes sense.smackaholic wrote:Well, it seems that maybe Dan likes it here.

Re: Dan Hurley tells Lakers to fuck off.
Pretty much. Don't forget that LeBron basically runs the Lakers and Hurley would have to put up with his primadonna bullshit. Also remember that he's trying to strongarm the Lakers into drafting his marginally talented son. Sounds brilliant.Softball Bat wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 2:32 am There are reasons why staying at UConn makes sense.

And rack Poptah's post. Very well said and spot on.
Dan is taking the very nice bird in hand over the dozen or so in the bush which are probably crazy and will attack him.

And no, I did not literally pray for such a thing. Showtime vs a bunch of slow ass white boys was as good as the NBA ever was, even when the slow white boys lost.
