the boat sank
The good news is that everyone is ok.
The not so good news is that the boat sank.
So at midnight last night, mi cuñado (my brother in law) and 11 others left the marina to go to a reef off the Yucatán coast. The owner had just bought the boat, this was the first trip.
By 2:30, the boat was sinking. They were rescued at 8:00.
I haven't been able to speak with Cesar yet, he's sleeping now, but it was quite an ordeal. Among other mistakes, there were only 5 life vests on board.
I uploaded a little video, can't get it to embed here, but check this out.
There are three articles on it with more video and pics. Originally in Spanish but my phone translates it or maybe that is the websites. Link 1

I'll talk with Cesar when he wakes up, but in any event I'm grateful that he's ok. Scary times.

Sounds like there's no chance your keyboard was lost in the wreckage, eh? Dang.
Maybe next time.
Maybe next time.
Ain't nothin' like the real thing, baby.

No, but he had taken my fishing rod with him, so now that's on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico.

Liquor bottles are also now at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico.
Just a wild guess.
But on a more serious note...

Sounds like a lawsuit is coming.

How on earth does that happen? Unless someone opened the seacock it should be impossible.

Re: the boat sank
I wasn't on the boat. If I had been in Yucatán, I would have been.
My brother in law was on it. Still haven't spoken with him yet, no doubt he has a story to tell. They all thought they were going to die.

And if my sister-in-law had a cock, she'd be my cuñado.
I would guess that five of them were feeling more confident than the others.
Re: the boat sank
She would generate a great deal of interest in western Missouri.

I hope we all learned a valuable lesson today. Don't skip Day 12.
