Weekend Roll Call 10-5-24

Post by kcdave »

Likely the greatest hair metal song ever made.

Back to the gym and pool this morning and again
tomorrow morning as well... Still hot as balls here
in FOC ... 92 for the forecast high ... about 20 degrees
above normal. Crazy shit. Almost as crazy as the shit
I have seen here and there this week that hurricanes are
being made by Dems to alter the outcome of the election. :hammer:
Same election that is now only 30 days away.

Lots of grill biz today, and lots of sports as well. I will have
to time things just right to be able to work and do what I
need to do, and still see watch MIZZOU. I don't have a great
feeling about this one. They are currently ranked 9th in the
country, but have not shown me much as of yet. Whipping
glorified JuCo programs is not impressive. Nearly getting
beat by Vandy is worse. Hopefully Drinko took care of business
during the bye week, or this year will be a bust.

Later tonight - Royals v Yanks. How 'bout them Royals?
Vegas hates them, but I will give them a punchers chance
and it's good to care about baseball again in October.

No Chiefs tomorrow, but we will have them on MNF.
MLB fucked KC by starting playoff game two, 45 minutes prior
to kickoff. I will have to set up a 2nd tv and double dip.
Injuries are starting to take a toll. The 3pete is only 127 days away,
but getting just a tad more difficult. Chiefs really need to
add another receiver, with Amari Cooper being the name mentioned
most likely.

If you remember last week I mentioned
getting volunteered by VagHub to smoke 3
pork butts for sis-in-law's yearly maga loving,
redneck, fall get together, that I will be skipping
as I do every single year.

Well, it was actually 4 butts.

I rolled an overnighter, just over 14 hours total,
lump, with apple chunks, Blues Hog rubbed.
Turned out nice, and I kyped a couple of meals
worth for us.

MOW

Happy weekend, Y'all.

"Ugly Sneaker"? I'll go with Debbie Wasserman Schultz. What do I win?

In. Watching the Gulf. Something brewing. Me and Mrs. 88, like usualm, will be flying away from whatever it is on Monday. Hope Wolfman and all others in the path of Milton (sounds menacing, eh?).

Thank God, at least for today, he’s preoccupied with Gameday.

Wife wanted eggs Benedict this morning so I had to do an early trip to the grocery store. Get there and there's a great smell, they were starting a big pot of jambalaya. I'd love to have this set up at our place in Mexico.

Wife fed and happy, time to go to her office picnic, which was nice. Right when we arrived, it was race time, and BOOYA :monkies: Saratoga Warrier ran for a nice win. He had an extra gear in him and just pulled away at the end.

No LSU football today. Saints play some pathetic team on Monday night and they should win easily.

Dave those pork butts look perfect. A detailed recipe would be nice.

Did our resident Cal fan make it to GameDay today? Need a report on that.

Hope my to-do list will be short this weekend. Y'all have a good one

Probably my favorite meal ever. Perhaps even more so than a medium rare ribeye. I HATE eating in the morning (the thought of it actually turns my stomach), but if eggs bennie are an option, I'll partake. It's actually something I'll occasionally make for a weekend dinner.

Watched my Nittany Lions win today over UCLA then mowed the lawn this afternoon and butchered one of 2 chickens I bought this morn (stock simmering away at the moment). I'll roast the 2nd one tomorrow ala Thanksgiving dinner with stuffing, gravy and fixins. For whatever reason, I woke up in the middle of the night last night and had the urge to make it this weekend. Just me here, so I will have some good leftovers for a couple days.

I'll pour a cocktail here in a few mins, fire up the grill and make a nice burger with swiss cheese and mushrooms. Have a good eve, all.

Made my Saturday morning pilgrimage to the Farmers Market, Costco and Petco. Saturdays are great because there’s always a huge pile of ultra fresh fruit and veggies when I get home. Dinner is going to be grilled chicken breast with a big salad including lettuce, tomatoes, celery, cukes, carrots, avocado, artichoke hearts, onion, bacon, croutons and some Point Reyes Original Blue Cheese. Maybe some grilled shishito peppers on the side.

Just can’t seem to give a fuck about CFB with the MLB playoffs getting into full swing. Watching Mets / Phillies right now in anticipation of Padres / Doyers. Fuck the Dodgers (sorry Smackie). LFGSD!!

Gonna have to figure out a way to watch the game and listen to Tune Town at the same time.

That's actually a good point. If you died, not only would you be dead, you'd be embarrassed. 'Phibes? Oh, Milton killed him'.

Watching Bama trip over their own dicks all game. They’re gonna lose to Vanderbilt. Unreal.

Not a whole lot of details needed ..
Unwrap
Rub with Blues Hog
Smoke 14 hours over lump charcoal and apple chunks at 225.
Remove bones, shred.

Don't have the passion that was once there for the Dodgers (multiple factors) but I'll casually check them out for the annual Dave Roberts post-season Choke-A-Thon. ANY compassion I ever had for the Pads vanished when they acquired Machado.
