Not really. Technically they are paid by the importer. Those taxes typically increase the cost the end consumer pays. But they are imposed to secure other objectives. If China is dumping stuff in out country to strategically kill certain market sectors, you can apply high tariffs on all goods imported by that country until they get their shit in order. It’s a game of chicken. India is coming like a freight train. It’s a good time to fuck with China. Plus China owns our debt. Ask a banker who controls the negotiations when the borrower is really fucking deep in the lender’s pocket.

Tariffs work in theory. But they have to be applied, as you said, like a scalpel. I just don’t know if Trump has the capability to understand that, or maybe he doesn’t care. He seems to do things based on personal grievances, or whatever is percolating through his tiny brain on any given day.

Like I said earlier, the time for argument is pretty much over so now we just have to wait and see how many FOX news hosts and unhinged lunatics like RFK Jr he nominates for cabinet posts, and see what happens.

I agree a couple of Trump’s appointees are head-scratchers, but they can’t possibly be worse than Mayorkas or Buttigeig (sp?) or Levine or any number of other Biden appointees. We’ll be okay.

Since you're stupid, I'll dumb it down for you. 80% of Mexico's imports go to the United States. Who do you think is going to blink first?
Apparently you don’t know the difference between imports and exports. Why are we even having this discussion?
mvscunt seems to have disappeared from this thread. I wonder why that might be.
A. You're fucking boring.
B. You're fucking stupid.

Awesome catch there. Yes, exports. Now what do you think Mexico is going to do when we can cut their fucking nuts off with tariffs? And tariffs aren't the only means at our disposal to compel cooperation.

Another great non-take from the waste of space contingent at T1B.

I've already addressed your weak economics arguments several times in other posts.

I prefer not to be redundant when I've already given my "take".

WTF is in the air in CA anyway that makes you so brain-fogged?
