Re: Dictator on Day One!
Yoon's political opposition (in their equivalent of Congress) is stonewalling and preventing him from doing stuff he wants. I wonder if they have a filibuster and this is his method for getting rid of it, which Diego says is a totally normal and rational thing to do when things aren't going your way. You're supposed to throw a tantrum and change the rules.
Or maybe there are too many opposition party loyalists on their supreme court so he's going to pack their court with more of his loyalists. Diego says that's also completely acceptable and not a threat to the foundations of democracy. When things aren't going your way, throw a tantrum and change the rules.

Now expecting Trump to declare MARITAL LAW!! by the end of the week.
Re: Dictator on Day One!
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — The president of South Korea early Wednesday lifted the martial law he imposed on the country hours earlier, bending to political pressure after a tense night in which troops surrounded parliament and lawmakers voted to reject military rule.
President Yoon Suk Yeol, who appeared likely to be impeached over his actions, imposed martial law late Tuesday out of frustration with the opposition, vowing to eliminate “anti-state” forces as he struggles against opponents who control parliament and that he accuses of sympathizing with communist North Korea.
Police and military personnel were seen leaving the grounds of parliament following the bipartisan vote to overrule the president, and the declaration was formally lifted around 4:30 a.m. during a Cabinet meeting.
Parliament acted swiftly after martial law was imposed, with National Assembly Speaker Woo Won Shik declaring that the law was “invalid” and that lawmakers would “protect democracy with the people.”
In all, martial law was in effect for about six hours.

Well, he certainly does Suk.
Re: Dictator on Day One!
President Suk Y'all? What the fuck is going on over there? Seems like he wouldn't need to declare martial law to relieve tension.

No, but maybe he should take office within the week to prevent WWIII.

You were also expecting Harris/Walz to win, and Biden to not pardon Hunter. Your batting average is equal to your IQ.

I am living.
Thanks for your concern.
No time to post for the past 10 days.
Two or three days later I will post my take on this.
And I will also tell you about an interesting experience I, and nine Koreans, had.

Honestly, that was not the interesting experience with nine Koreans that we were hoping for. Very disappointing. Zero out of five stars.Softball Bat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 6:17 amAnd I will also tell you about an interesting experience I, and nine Koreans, had.

Re: Dictator on Day One!
SK President Yoon (Conservative Party) was impeached on Saturday.
Impeached on charges of insurrection tied to his botched declaration of martial law on Dec. 3.
With the impeachment resolution delivered to Yoon at 7:24 p.m., he was suspended from office immediately. The Constitutional Court will decide whether to reinstate or formally oust him following a deliberation process that could take up to 180 days. Prime Minister Han Duck-soo is to serve as the acting leader of the country in the meantime.
Han ordered Cabinet members to ensure that the result of Saturday's vote does not "make the public anxious or lead to disorders in society," according to the Prime Minister's Secretariat and the Office for Government Policy Coordination. He ordered Vice Defense Minister and acting Defense Minister Kim Seon-ho to put the armed forces on alert to prevent "any breaches in the national defense and the public security" and the chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to “prevent North Korea from making any reckless moves and maintain a solid security posture based on the US-ROK alliance.”
