Happy new year. Last night I was able to stay awake until the big apple dropped in NYC (11pm my time), and was sleeping within minutes thereafter.
Don't forget to eat black eyed peas, cabbage, pork, and cornbread today. The black eyed peas and cabbage are for health and wealth in the new year, I can't remember what the pork and cornbread are for. Anyway, here is a nice cornbread recipe:

3 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups cornmeal
3 tablespoons baking powder
1/3 teaspoon salt
4 eggs
3 cups whole milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
Mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl.
In another bowl beat eggs with a whisk, then add milk and oil and mix thoroughly.
Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.
Pour mix into a greased 9x13 baking pan and bake in a 350 oven for 35 minutes or until top is golden brown.
