Weekend Roll Call 1-4-25

More stoner metal if you are so inclined - I'm kind of
digging these bands.

Shit weekend on tap for FOC.
Snowmaggedon starts later this after noon and continues through
all day Sunday. Weather dorks predicting 8-14 inches. We shall see.
It's been over 50 years since KC officially recorded a snow event
over 12 inches. 8, 10, 12, whatever, it's gonna suck. Shout out
to Mikey- post a few pics of your pool, your estate and the area,
so I can temporarily forget how much the Midwest weather blows.

Pool, honeydo's, store and a few errands early then home to
ride out the storm. Thankfully, we have a couple of NFL games
on the tube today. First up, Cle @ Bmore. This is one of those
stupid games you get at the end of the season. Cle is sitting many
starters, Bmore is trying to win the division, producing a 20 point
spread. The Chiefs at Den tomorrow is somewhat similar. Chiefs
are resting many, thus Denver is a 10 point fave against the future
Superbowl Champs. (3pete is only 36 days away) I like taking the
Chiefs and points in this one. Many hungry guys looking to make
a name for themselves, and Prince Harry will be looking to go out
with an impressive performance to land a starting gig and a fat
paycheck for next season.

A few other rando NFL thoughts ....
The Lions (America's newest darling) are about done. Their def
is wrecked. Their moron coach and his schtick will prevent them
from beating Minn tomorrow, thus putting them on the road in
the playoffs. They will be 1 and done.
The Packers will suffer the same fate. Another fraud.
Glad to see Mahomes and McDuffie left off of the probowl roster.
That will fuel both of them though the playoffs. Pissed off Pat
is always good for Chiefs fans.
Go ahead and add Anthony Richardson to the piece of shit club
with CJ Stroud. In fact, you can put all the QB's at the top of the
2023 in the club. Young, Stroud, Richardson, and Levis all suck.

Good to see d-town make a drive by this week. Perhaps Screwy
may do the same some time soon.

Had to return a Christmas gift from my daughter, it was a LSU shirt that I really liked. I wear 3x, and this shirt was a 3x, but it was too small. So I went to the store, returned it, and asked if they had anything in my size. Turns out they did, another LSU shirt that I like. And it is a 2x. Wtf? Same store, same brand of shirt, 3x is too small but 2x fits? In any event, I'll wear that to opening day of the LSU baseball season on February 14.

Well, if I can go to that game. I think it has been around 4 years since my last surgery, which is a nice run for me. But now I'm having prostate surgery again. Next Thursday will have a CT scan and that will show the extent of what is needed, but it shouldn't be too bad. Hmmm, now that I'm thinking about it, if surgery is late January or early February, then attending a Feb 14 baseball game probably will be a bit much, even if it is a relatively small surgery. We'll see.

The college football playoffs have been interesting. All 4 top seeds were defeated. That's pretty amazing to me. I thought having a bye week would have helped, but maybe not? Texas (5), Penn State (6), Notre Dame (7), but Vegas says the lowest seed Ohio State (8) is the favorite to win it all. Not a fan of any of the final 4 teams, maybe I'll pull for Ohio State because they sent Joe Burreaux to LSU.

My heart still hurts from the terrorism in New Orleans. I've never lived there, but it is my home state. And this was a different type of disaster that we had to deal with. The Emergency Operations Center was activated, but this time we had all these feds there, those guys were a serious no bullshit group of folks. So many acronyms. In some ways they were kinda like human German Shepherds, so focused on their jobs. And then once it was determined that this was a single actor and not a group effort, most of them were gone. Glad they're on our side.

Going to hit the grocery store and then hopefully a slow weekend. My wife probably has other plans for me though. Going to make some crab cakes later. Y'all have a good one.

I won a telescope in a drug store raffle when I was a teenager.

When I was a freshman in college, I was talking to my roommate (Tim) one day, and somehow I mentioned that I had won a telescope in a drug store raffle.
He said, "You should bring it here."
And he kept saying it.
"Poptart, you need to bring your telescope here."
I was like, "Okay, whatever..."

So, one time when I went home for the weekend, I brought my telescope back with me to our dorm room.
Tim and I would skrew around with it, looking through our window at things far away, etc. Just dickin' around.

Anyway, one night I went to the library.
I came back from the library to the dorm room, opened the door, and the lights were all off.

I flipped a light on, and saw thatTim had the the curtains closed, except for a small portion up near the top, in the corner, which he had propped open with a book.
He was perched up on a chair, with my telescope in his hands, looking out our window at the female dorm that was sort of adjacent to our dorm.

He had zoomed the telescope in on some co-ed's room and was spying/perving on her.
A true sociopath.

After our year-and-a-half as roommates, I only talked to him one time.
I wonder what happened to ol' Timothy.

I wonder what prison houses him.

At least it was just the telescope. Could have been worse

Trapped in a mine that had caved in
And everyone knows the only ones left
Were Joe and me and Tim
When they broke through to pull us free
The only ones left to tell the tale
Were Joe and me
Timothy, Timothy, where on earth did you go?
Timothy, Timothy, God why don't I know?
Hungry as hell no food to eat
And Joe said that he would sell his soul
For just a piece of meat
Water enough to drink for two
And Joe said to me, "I'll have a swig
And then there's some for you."
Timothy, Timothy, Joe was looking at you
Timothy, Timothy, God what did we do?
I must have blacked out just around then
'Cause the very next thing that I could see
Was the light of the day again
My stomach was full as it could be
And nobody ever got around
To finding Timothy

Hope my shop in Kansas City doesn't freeze to death. Cost me a lot to build.

Does the humane society come out in ND when the polar bears become unruly?

Blizzards are rare here. One every 10 years or so.
I have seen many worse snow storms here, but this
sumbitch has gone on all day long.
I got out twice today to shovel and run the snow blower.
You can't really tell now that I did a damn this.
Back at it again at 4am before heading to work.

Don’t have a heart attack. I heard that dropping dead while shoveling snow is one of the leading causes of death for men over 40 in FOC.

In the 60s and crystal clear. With a nice breeze to keep the heat index down.
