Was listening to a podcast this morning from someone who grew up in PP. She said that the streets in her neighborhood were lined with Eucalpytus trees which apparently make very good incendiary devices.

These trees, like an awful lot of vegetation are not native.

I am certain that TBOM will implement a program to deport these invasive species.

We've had record rainfall in the past three years and 95% of it ended up in the ocean. That's the Democrats' fault.
So much complete and utter horseshit in one post it’s not even worth unraveling. But I will take this one on since it’s so completely obvious.

Like 88 says, the reason for these fires is the dry, windy conditions. Not just Santa Anas but the most severe conditions anyone has seen. And the record rains over the past couple of winters actually make things worse because of all the, now dry, vegetation that resulted. You all were the ones who were running around last year yelling “ the drought’s over! The drought’s over!” Now we haven’t had any measurable precipitation since last winter. Is that somehow the Democrats fault? Anyone who has been around here long enough knows that the drought is never over even when you get a couple of years of bigger than average rainfall.

And yes, it would be great if we had more storage. Is it specifically the Democrats fault? Maybe in your pea sized brain. Where exactly would you put this storage? You think you can just dig a big hole in the ground and call it a reservoir? It’s well known that pretty much all of the feasible locations are already being used. If you have one in mind, please let us know. Even if you put a big new lake in one of the inland valleys, you’re not going to be able to catch all the water raining on western slopes to fill it. And you’re talking in three year time frames. How long does it take to find a site (if there is one), acquire the land, plan and execute the construction and then fill it? Probably a little more than three years. And at what cost? It’s MAGAts like you, with a capacity for critical thinking of a three old, that think someone can just do it because they want to.
As expected, this place will never change. Mikey, one of a half of a handful of posters here with a brain who actually knows what he is talking about, talking climate science with a bunch of high school dropouts who are busy fellating their science denying, fascist hero. The mid-2020s are going to fucking suck for most Americans. Fuck you all (except Mikey, Smackie, JSC, Phibes and poptart).
The problem is that it’s not possible to engage in any kind of serious discussion with folks who are interested only in trolling a certain political POV. Or others like Seer who are truly brain dead sycophants. So, what’s the point in trying? It ends up being a one sided conversation, a waste of time akin to banging your head against a brick wall. Better just to go with the flow and troll away.

That is absolutely heartbreaking. Hopefully the full resources of all levels of government will help them recover.
Hopefully the incoming administration will provide aid to EVERYONE, regardless of their political leanings…as opposed to the methods of the outgoing bunch.

Oh, and fuck you Screwy. You are right…this place will never change. Posters have differing opinions. Your peers have been stymied in their attempts to censor and/or cancel those who disagree with them. Your dream of a place where everyone conforms to your thinking didn’t make it. Some of us want a thriving economy. Some of us are anti-war. Some of us want to retain freedom of speech. Your corrupt administration is gone. Deal with it.

I’m not going to rehash the disgusting FEMA actions in the aftermath of Helene. You putting your hands over your ears and closing your eyes is your problem, not mine.

So every post you disagree with gets that photo? Should I post a freak yelling at the sky when you post?

All about the feelz. Yes, the devastation and loss for those in the fire areas is tragic. But how can you not at the same time, be asking how did such a tragedy occur?!? Water & forest management has been discussed for decades in Cali but how'd that work out? Anger and frustration need to replace heartbreak so this level of MIS management and misdirected blame (climate change, a fish, etc.) can be minimized in the future.

The era of common sense can't get started soon enough.

Rack MTG.

My prayers go out to everyone in Southern California dealing with these raging fires, but I’m also angry it is even happening.

Governor Gavin Newsom failed so miserably in water and land management, and now the State of Canada is sending firefighting planes to bail him out.

And while Los Angeles is burning in the Pacific Palisades fire due to horrific Democrat mismanagement, Joe Biden is set to announce half a billion dollars in additional aid to Ukraine.

Putting America Last constantly in her time of need, just like the Biden Administration did in Western North Carolina, East Palestine, and Lahaina, is exactly why Democrats were crushed in the November election.

Thank God President Trump won, but he has a big mess to clean up.

I don’t think Californians will be putting up with Democrat “leadership” much longer.

No shit?

I spent the first 61 years of my life in SoCal, my parents lived in Rivas Canyon adjacent to Will Rogers State Park for years. I was able to see and live the paradise that was California and also the systemic deterioration of my once beautiful and functioning state. My contempt for those that allowed it to become what it is will never dissipate. Yeah, I guess it's Newsome's & Bass' fault that there was near-hurricane force Santa Ana winds. I guess it's their fault that the fire caused the power to go out, which takes down the water pump stations.

You know as much about California as mtool...

That's fucking hilarious!

The far-left's whiney version of the seer. Someone who couldn't compete in the California market place so he moves to the dreary shithole known as Seattle and takes another government job up there so he doesn't have to actually work.

You literally took two of my posts and immediately copied them and posted the same thing right after I posted.

Would you like me to post them... so I can embarrass your ass some more?

The Seattle beaner doesn't know shit about California, but acts like he lives here.

Let me know... Seer in Seattle.

This reminds me of all the idiot "libs" promising to leave the country if Republicans are elected. The only difference between them and you is that you actually cut and ran.

There are "Leaving California" groups on Facebook with thousands talking about leaving for Texas or Florida or Tennessee or some other shithole. Some people leave because of employment, some leave because of family. Legitimate reasons. A lot of them just talk about how much they hate Newsome and how California is so "blue" that they can't stand it anymore. What a weak fucking excuse. Most of them just couldn't cut it here and want to blame somebody else. Probably a lot of them are just like you. Born to well-off parents, living in a nice neighborhood and given every opportunity to succeed, but turned into spoiled little cunts expecting everything on a silver platter. Skipped too many days of school to smoke weed and go surfing. Didn't bother with college, or just flunked out, and didn't realize until it was too late that they couldn't make it working at 7-11. So they move to a shithole and spend their time complaining about where they left, instead of staying and trying to do something about it.

I moved to Nevada in the 90s because of employment. It was was during a time when we had a Republican governor. I didn't blame the governor. I blamed my employment situation. I didn't sit and stew in my own misplaced hate, but made my was back after five years.

There are plenty of problems here no doubt. HPG has no standing to criticize anything California because he has no idea what he's talking about and is just trolling anyway. But you were given every opportunity, fucked it up, slinked away, and now spend your time wallowing in your hatred and self-loathing.

Time lapse video from 01.07.2025, taken by GOES-18 and JPSS satellites.

Both satellites are equipped with next-generation tools to observe our planet, but the difference is that JPSS orbits Earth in a polar, non-geosynchronous orbit 512 miles above us, while GOES satellites orbit above the same point on Earth (in what's known as a geosynchronous orbit) from 22,236 miles above Earth. <--- Hi poptart!

By using different filters and spectral bands on instruments aboard both satellites, powerful images can be created to show the near real-time growth and movement of the fire and smoke.

The Palisades Fire, which began Tuesday morning (Jan. 7), grew to just under 3,000 acres in less than 24 hours.

Rack!

Except the part about smoking weed and surfing.

I had a couple of friends I used to go surfing with in high school that smoked weed (sold it as well as other shit).

Brian became a chemical engineer. Went to UCSD which you know well. He got into Cal as well as me. But, said he was going to UC down there because it was a better school for chemical engineering. I just believed him because I didn't know or really care. Maybe you can enlighten me.

And Mark. Who ended up becoming a doctor.

Seer and Diego are just losers and it really doesn't have to be due to smoking pot and surfing. Just wanted to clarify (protect) something I love (surfing) and don't wanted it grouped in with those losers.

Other than that, you're spot on.

I've got nothing against smoking weed OR surfing, per se, as long as it doesn't get in the way. I was just making an example. God and gOD knows I did plenty of both (OK I spent the equivalent of a few years on a Boogie Board or treading water wearing Duck Feet). The golfing at Torrey Pines was pretty excellent as well. And it took me seven years to get through UCSD with an ME and Controls Systems degree, but I did it. It has an excellent engineering school, even back then. But TBH I picked it because of the location. My mother and her father were both born in San Diego and we used to come down every summer for vacation.

These trees, like an awful lot of vegetation are not native.

I am certain that TBOM will implement a program to deport these invasive species.
She's absolutely right about eucalyptus. Fast growing and flammable. Also they tend to have large limbs break off when it gets windy. Anybody in SoCal who keeps any in their yard is just inviting disaster. There are a lot of dumb people around and they wonder why they can't get insurance. We never had any eucalyptus but we did have a bunch of Italian cypress trees lining our driveway when we moved here. Probably about 50 feet tall and looked like a bunch of Roman candles waiting to light off. To top that off there was a 300 gallon propane tank at the top of the driveway, right at the end of the row of trees. Trees and tank have both been gone now for a while.

I always thought you just went down there to go to school. Didn't know the family relationship.

One of the good things about the Bay Area and Northern California. Wildfires in the winter are literally impossible. Not only does it rain, the hills around here have grass and it looks like Ireland in some respects as you well know.

Seer (and the Trumpers) get their news now from Twitter. Which is hilarious in itself.
