Paul Anka - Rock Swings

Post by patsy stone »

I just read a review in Rolling Stone that talked about how pleasantly humorous this album is, so I downloaded it. Some of the songs he covers are cheesy to begin with, but I think he made them palatable. Of course, that's because he's da man. The cover of VH's "Jump" is especially interesting.

Great for those elegant upscale ritzy-glitzy dinner parties I'm sure y'all are always having. ;)

Track List:

1. It's My Life
2. True
3. Eye of the Tiger
4. Everybody Hurtsc
5. Wonderwall
6. Blackhole Sun
7. It's a Sin
8. Jump
9. Smells Like Teen Spirit
10. Hello
11. Eyes Without a Face
12. Lovecats
13. Way You Make Me Feel
14. Tears in Heaven

Paul Anka wonderwall

I was just checkin' this out on a blog the other day...the dude just rocks...in a hipster finger snappin', dry martini kinda way.

But then I dig Sinatra, Dean Martin, and all those crazy Rat Pack big band stuff...well, every once and a while. It cleans the palette between The Mars Volta and Muddy Waters and Deep Purple.

Patsy,

If you like this, you would love Dick Cheese.

Or the Mike Flowers Pops or any of the other groups that jumped on the "lounge cover" bandwagon.

It was all pretty funny for like.... 2 days back when Pat Boone did that "My Metal Mood" bullshit about 15 years ago.
