Keb' Mo'

Post by Mikey »

I got tickets to see Keb' Mo' on October 28 'cause I heard he would be in town and puts on a really good show. I've never seen him before and am not really familiar with his music. Any suggestions on albums I should I should get to be ready for this concert?

I'd start with something by Keb' Mo'! :P
Perhaps something in a 'R&B crossed with traditional blues' vein.
Look up Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise. I think you'll find some similarity. 8)

Tony Orlando and Dawn might be a good start for the latest release.

For the earlier work, just Keep it Simple is traditional blues and what he does best. Should be a nice night out witchor' lady fo' sho'.

You saw the series Martin Scorcese did on the blues for PBS, right?

Dust off your Taj Mahal and Hot Tuna records...it's gonna be good.

Can't recommend specific albums, but I saw Keb Mo last year. Matter of fact, I think he was playing with Taj Mahal. I was reeeeealllly drunk at the time, but it was an awesome show. You'll dig it.

Mikey, I took the wife to see him last summer at Humphreys. He put on a good fun show. We considered getting tixs for the show you're talking about (@ Escondildo Performing Arts Center, I believe), but we didn't.

The only cd I have of his is "Just Like You" which I really like.

forget Hot Tuna--Jorma K. is just copping the Reverand Gary Davis most of the time. he's good at it, which is impressive.

but, might as well go to the source.
