Kanye West- Late Registration
Since I'm totally ghetto leaning to this CD while I drive this week, does that make me an Icy Hot Stunta?
I'm even bobbin' my head and rubbing my chin with three fingers (thumb to fore and middle finger), laid back, one hand on the wheel with other elbow on the console holding my hand that's doing that chin thing. I'm all showing that "yeah, I'm so chill bitch, look but don't touch cuz I'm mos def dope" with my window half rolled down to where horny girls can only see my sunglasses. I can do this better now because I have a woofer.
Seriously, am I a mvscal?

Dude, you really don't understand modern environmentalism, do you?
We don't sit up in trees anymore. When big bad logger man tries to cut the wrong one down and kill our beloved spotted owls, we just pull the AK47 out from under the seat of our 1983 Lesbaru with the Greenpeace stickers all over it, and cap the bitch. We then take his Pendleton and tie it around our waist, and go see a Alice In Chains tribute band.
If someone comes out with a study that says rotting logger carcass is bad for the environment, we're going to have to rethink a couple of things.

If being able to distinguish the difference between MUSIC and (bad urban)poetry makes me a "music snob," then I'll wear the title proudly.

Ignorant, because I find most urban poetry to be devoid of talent, and mostly based on plagerism?
That makes me "observant," it makes you a "sheep." Just because somebody told you it was good, doesn't make it good.
Wow, soooooo much originality in the hiphop genre.
But....but...duuuuuude....he said NIGGA NIGGA PIMP HO!!!! HE RULEZ!!!!!

Your problem is, you're judging hip-hop music by what you hear on mainstream radio and see on MTV. If you judged rock by the same standards, you'd probably think it sucked too. Using douchebags like Ludacris or 50 Cent as your point of reference for hip-hop makes as much sense as using Nickelback or Incubus to form your opinion of rock. There's good shit out there in just about every genre. You just have to look harder for it.Dinsdale wrote:Ignorant, because I find most urban poetry to be devoid of talent, and mostly based on plagerism?

If you have any interest at all in possibly discovering some hip-hop with artistic merit instead of just spewing inanities whenever it's mentioned, give the following artists a listen...
The Roots
Atmosphere
Jurassic 5
Ugly Duckling
Blackalicious
Mos Def

YOUR problem is, you're judging what you percieve to be how I base my musical opinions on how you form yours.
But, since you have me allllll figured out, would you care to remind me when was the last time I watched MTV (I'll give you a hint -- it wasn't in this decade, probably not more than 5 minutes in the last one...but I'll repent my evil ways and start taking recommendations on music from someone with intimate knowledge of what's played on MTV), or listened to mainstream hiphop radio?
TIA.
Oh, and your assumption I've never heard the acts you listed before is about as intelligent and thoughtful as the first part of your post.

Since I'm sooooooo off base, please enlighten me. If you've listened to the acts I listed, and you don't listen to hip-hop radio or watch MTV, then where are you coming up with this "nigga nigga pimp ho" shit? You been going to a lot frat keggers and $20-cover dance clubs lately?Dinsdale wrote:**Can't stop laughing.....must breathe**

I'm not denying that the majority of rap music that gets exposure is that kind of crap. And FWIW, I'm not defending Kanye West. But if you can listen to the music that The Roots play and still call it "devoid of talent, and mostly based on plagerism," then maybe everyone else is right. You're just old.
