Bucs/Vikings
Any Viking fans in here except P-Rox looking down (I think Frodo is) ?
Anywho, this is a tough ass opener for the Bucs obviously. I'll put on my myopic glasses and say that the Bucs do have a chance to win here. Everything will hinge on the O-line performing and the team, in general, eliminating foolish penalties. In that loud-ass dome this will be a bitch.
The D is a step slower but still a top 10 unit IMHO, They should hold Minn. under 21. I'll call for Cadillac having a nice rookie debut rushing and recieving and the Bucs pull out a close one 24-20.

As a Packer fan it makes me want to puke in my mouth to even say this, but the Vikings look sick this year. Not looking forward to having to play these guys twice.
Kind of like when Favre lost Sharpe, I think not having Moss might actually make Culpepper a better quarterback. And I think they've added enough talent on defense in the offseason to stop a lot of the bleeding they were doing last year. That D line looks absolutely dangerous which should make the revamped secondary even better.
The only thing I feel good about is the fact that Tice is still the coach and that ought to cost them a few games in and of itself.
Good luck, Bucs. I'm pulling for you.

Hard to Believe Gruden is on the hot seat just a fews years after winning the Super Bowl, but he is. His act is wearing thin on the players, and he's wearing out his welcome with ownership because of too many retreads that don't perform.
The Bucs usually play the Vikings very tight. If they can stop the run and without Viking C Matt Burk that is much more likely, they have a good chance. That said, I selected the Vikings in my pool. Culpepper is the real deal and I think he'll find a way to get it done. The Viking defense is improved, but how much is still a question. I think they'll force Griese into a turnover or two and have 3 or 4 sacks vs Tampa's weak link, their Oline.

Joe, not all Buc fans share the same sentiment as Cicero and I am one of them. The Gruden bashers are quite vocal in this area, especially on sports talk. I personally think we have a damn good coach that can be here 10+ years, though the "win now" attitude of the NFL goes against the idea of long-term coaches.
Folks around here are quick to dismiss the 2 first round picks given up for Meshawn and the 2 first and 2 second round picks given up to get Gruden. This can ONLY weaken a team, thus the Bucs having to resort to rolling the dice on Free Agent hasbeens the last few years. Factor in the salary cap issues the last 2 years also, and ya see the end result.
I think this year will be a struggle but improvement will be made. I personally would like to give Gruden this year and the next 2 and then pass judgement. There will be room in the cap next year to perhaps sign a quality free agent or two, and another year under the belt for some of the young position players. If you look back at Grudens record as a head coach he has delivered other then the last two years when he was being dealt from a stacked deck. Time will only tell I guess...

The Bucs defense is still fast and still top 10(they were 5 I think last year). That alone keeps them in most games. We lost a lot of close games no thanks to grammatica.

Re: Bucs/Vikings
You got it buddy! Does this game scare me? Sure! The only way I see the Vikings losing is the Bucs "D" getting in Daunte's face and head. It seems like the Bears they have a way to fuck with Pepper. I'll be watching for corner blitzes. If they can't rattle him. It's also Hovan's homecoming and I'm sure he's going to be pretty pumped up and has told the Bucs "D" what to look out for.Bucmonkey wrote:Any Viking fans in here except P-Rox looking down (I think Frodo is) ?

With that being said I see the Vikings coming out with a smash mouth type of ball and try to pound the Bucs. You'll see a lot of lead blocks and traps from the Vikes. I also suspect that they will work Wiggins down the field.
The Vikings Defense could have a field day on Griese today. I wouldn't be surprised to see at least 3 sacks for them on Griese tomorrow. If the Vikings can keep the penalties down from the dumbshit they've been pulling this preaseson they should win. I could pull a Madden out of my ass and say something totally generic like, "The offensive line that plays the best will win the game."Quarterback Brian Griese can complement the running game when healthy, but Tampa Bay will have to protect him better. Griese, who spent five seasons with Denver and one in Miami before coming to Tampa Bay last year, was sacked 26 times in 11 games last season.

No, incorrect. The first one he DID push off the left arm, tough call but it was right. Th esecond one was obvious and I called it out before the flag was even thrown. The guy shoved the defender IN THE BACK out of bounds. Again, the right call was made.....block in the back.frodo_biguns wrote:Two TDs called back on the Vikings on BULLSHIT CALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No....the announcer said he pushed off with the left and that it was a tough call. The second one was a definite block in the back. Dude, the guy went flying out of bounds. Hold on to the ball and you might have won.frodo_biguns wrote:ARE YOU INSANE????????????????? They played it over and over> Even the Announcers said is was Bullshit! I'd rather complain about a stupid fucking Coach like Tice that doesn't know how to adjust a game plan and give his QB some protection instead.mvscal wrote:So what's your point then? Complain about Culpepper's four turnovers or shut the fuck up.frodo_biguns wrote:Yeah.. it does'nt change the game.
Here you go....I am sorry that you thought it was a bad call. It was a great game and a great win on the road for the Bucs. Culpepper just imploded though. Again, my deepest sympathies....err....apologies.

I agreed with you on most of it. But the Wiggins first D was clearly a bullshit call, changed the whole game. Still won't compensate me for a fuck-up coach like Tice. Apology accepted. :wink:T REX wrote:Here you go....I am sorry that you thought it was a bad call. It was a great game and a great win on the road for the Bucs. Culpepper just imploded though.
