UF vs UT

UF vs UT
Both teams are very talented.
Both teams have studs on offense and defense.
I think it comes down to two things.......
1. Fulmer vs Meyer - Phil has been outcoached many times especially against the Gators. Ask SOS. Meyer is a gameday coach that maximizes his players and schemes as such. UF has been very vanilla is their first two games. Look for Meyer to open up the playbook vs UT and show looks on both sides of the ball that UT has not seen. How Phil adjusts during the game will be a huge factor.
2. The Swamp - Since the day Meyer stepped on Campus he has embraced the student body. It will be rocking beyond belief. There is a reason that the Swamp is considered the hardest place to play. The fans are on top of you and its loud. The crowd will be the difference in a close one........

I think defensively Tenn can neutralize the FLA offense, but Leak is playing very good right now (although against lesser competition), this game being in the Swamp helps FLA tremendously...also found out CJ Leak works for FLA??? Hmmm....coinkidink?
Anyway Phat Phil needs to settle on a QB (which I think he did) and pound the ball with Riggs...I am not so sure FLA can effectively stop the run, but hey big game, adreniline, perhaps the FLA D plays lights out...
where am I going with this? Who the fuck knows...this is a toss up in my mind...I hope I picked FLA for the pick em...as much as it pains me
FLA 27
Tenn 13
Did I already make that prediction somewhere? Plus if Tenn loses that is another team ahead of tOSU that might fall by the wayside...
now if Ohio U (with Solich) can somehow beat Va Tech...
another reason to like FLA...some of the girls at the Y sport FLA gear (whether they are fans or not) I could care less...but dammmmmmm Go Gators...DID I just say that?

What a great game. Too bad I will be watching the FSU game over on ESPN. I see UF getting out to an early lead due to the new looks that Urban will be showing Tenn. I do though see Tenn only down by a TD at most by halftime, thus allowing them to make the necessary adjustment on D at halftime. I see them shutting down Urban's gimmick offense in the 2nd half and Fulmer and the boys make 4 out of the last 5.

Tenn offense is bad
UAB gave TEN everything they could handle. UF has some skill on Offense, which is the huge advantage in this game. They should eb able to control both sides of the ball. If TEN can't run, the game will get ugly quick.
Leak is the real deal, and the more game snaps he gets under Meyer, the better the offensive system gets. N9 reason UF can't win by 15+
After all,
You can't spell citrus, without UT

Trex makes a good point in his first point. BF Phil rode the lucky bounces to a MNC, including playing against the opponents thrid string QB who made his only college start in the title game. I don't look for BF Phil to make the adjustments necessary to beat UF. Gators win going away.
Says who? You? There is no doubt that the swamp is a great home field advantage, but to say it is the definitive hardest to play is a stretch in my opinion. Now if you just added the word "one" you would get no arguement.Trix wrote:There is a reason that the Swamp is considered the hardest place to play.

I gotcha, but it wasn't my just my opinion(and it has to be opinion since there is no way to measure "toughest" outright besides record). Many publications list the Swamp the most difficult. I think it was either Lindy's or Athlon. I would have to look it up. BZ(before Zook), Gatorland was 68-5 over 12 years there.Left Seater wrote:Trex makes a good point in his first point. Wienke got hurt in the UVA game. I was there. Outzen started against Wake and the gates. The Rooster was 2-1 in games he started at FSU.
Good point though left.

Remember the Arkansas game that year, when the 'Backs had the game won and were trying to run out the clock? QB gets his foot stepped on after the snap and falls. In the process of falling, dude braces the impact with the hand holding the fukken ball  and fumbles.Left Seater wrote:BF Phil rode the lucky bounces to a MNC, including playing against the opponents thrid string QB who made his only college start in the title game.
May have been Leonard Little who fell on that biscuit and UT then moved down the field to score at the end to win.
Lady luck was on his side that whole season.

Fulmer is kind of like Carr, things fell together for a year and got him a ring. Now, several years later, that ring still buys considerable benefit-of-the-doubt. With any luck Solich's 99 team would have gotten him a ring and though he had his faults he'd probably still have the NU job now.
Though it might not start this first year(system still new) I see Fulmer becoming Meyer's bitch like he was Spurrier's.
There is a significant luck-factor that goes into most national champioship runs. Most MNC teams have games that could have easily been went the other way or other things (like the aforementioned getting to play the opposition's third-qb for the title) that work in their favor.

Like the barbeque stains on his shirt, and yet, in the opinions of some (arguably more knowledgeable than the faithful on this board), the 1998 UT team was among the greatest of all time.Jimmy Medalions wrote:Lady luck was on his side that whole season.
