When the Texans get the first pick in the coming NFL draft
Do they take Leinart or Bush with the #1 pick?
I'd have to take Leinart and tell David Carr to go be a backup under someone so he can learn how to play QB. I'm not 100% sold as to why he sucks. Dude has never had an offensive line to protect him but a fourth year QB should be able to make something happen on occasion. He hasn't. I'm not saying that he has to put up Peyton Manning-esque numbers but he's easily the worst starting QB in the NFL at present.
Dominick Davis is a solid RB. He's no Reggie Bush but I think the Texans need a QB/field general more than anything.
They also need to fire the GM and the entire coaching staff.

Even with the O-line being the most glaring problem - do you think that they could pass on Leinart? I'm not so sure.
Knowing the Texans, they will probably draft for more defensive players and not address the offensive line problems - just like they have in the past.
Carr's problem now is that he has absolutely zero confidence in his and his team's ability. Can't say I blame him. Dude has been sacked 27 times in four games.

Trade down and plug a couple of the GLARING needs at OL.
The Texans off-season was a joke. I was bemused over the summer when the trade bringing P. Buch here was some sort of BIG news. They didn't do jack squat to improve their team, and Casserly has not cut the mustard here. The offense has been dry since the start of the Dom Capers era here. Playing it close-to-the-vest, giving your team a chance to win a close game in the 4th qts, makes sense in year's one and two of an expansion team's history, but not in year freaking FOUR. Get the ball downfield to A. Johnson once in a while.....duh. Roll Carr out of the pocket more. Shit, SOMETHING other than, as our friend Truman once said, 3 yards and a cloud of punt.
Carr is immature, IMO, but he's not the 'problem' with the team.
They've got to upgrade the O-line.

Pass up Reggie Bush?
Hell nevah!!
I hope we keep Dom around long enough to make SURE we get Bush. You can get better offensive lineman that we have in the 3rd round.
...and RACK Chris Burke

I remember even more hype about Carr when he came out. I have no faith in first round QBs anynore. I'd rather trade down and get a couple picks later that would be worth it.Rack Fu wrote:Even with the O-line being the most glaring problem - do you think that they could pass on Leinart? Exactly. Find a desperate GM and trade down.poptart wrote:Trade down and plug a couple of the GLARING needs at OL.

Our trade for Buchanon and throwing cash at Greenwood pretty much ended Casserley's time in Houston. Giving Chester Pitts a Larry Allen type contract for escorting opposing defensive linemen into Carr's gut only sealed the deal. Resigning Bradford = . Trading a boatload of picks in order to draft Babin when we could have drafted the tard in the second round anyways = GET TA STEPPIN'!
0-16 is the rally cry. Draft a whole new OL. Find a WR who can actually run a crisp route so we can say "that guy runs crisp routes" while Carr lays on his back. Release Buchanon, release Babin, release Capers, release Casserley, release Toro, release Bradford and quit televising the games. They're hurting our eyes.

I feel for Carr. I think he has the tools and is a fiery player and is a leader. I was surprised the texans passed on Alex Barron at OT and picked up his teammate Johnson a DT. That guy has no confidence when he drops back. They have picked in the Top 5 the past 4 years, so I am sure they have talent at the skill positions, but they should trade down and pickup 2 OL in the 1st Round. Getting another QB will show that Carr was a waste of a 1st pick.
