dunno. couldn't bring myself to watch it.

the BBC version is fucking great--as everyone knows by now. friend of mine sent me the complete two seasons on dvd (all perfectly legal i'm sure). it's just one of those things (for me, at least) that rewards multiple viewings unlike most films which after two times you can forget.

I definitely dug the BBC version. Watched it all basically in one sitting with the wife - laughed our asses off.

PSU: you should watch it again.

but that's what happened to me. my friend (ironically enough, given this last weekend) who teaches at UT sent me the DVD's as part of our standing bet on the RRS game--even though he's newbie when it comes to Oklahoma-Texas (and i don't take him seriously)--he's a PSU guy, funny enough. got his BA and MA there, and like me was at CU for the PhD. though i'm "is" and he's "was". but, he was 3 years ahead of me in the doc program.

anyway, i had to teach twice in the AM (8 and 9), and then meet with my dissertation committee to explain why i've been dicking off posting at scobode.com and soonerfans.com....and i thought i'd watch this first episode to kill off my buddies entreatries and take my mind off the stupidity of the next day.

i watched the whole first season.....that night. Stayed up til about 4. taught like a champ, and schooled the committee.

raced home and watched the second season.

"motivation".

British version is different in that the characters are given a bit more depth. In the American version you're just laughing at them whilst the British version goes farther to drag the characters down and pick them back up.
