Steelers at Chargers

Post by KUTTER »

Best game of the year so far, in my opinion. The Steelers will be ready coming off the bye week, but SD is rolling with confidence after beating two very good teams. The schedule makers may have given SD more than they can handle three weeks straight, even though this is a home MNF game. They beat the Giants at home, then flew across country to beat the Pats, then fly back across country for the homer against the Steelers. I think it takes its toll this week.

LT gets his, but Brees and Co fall short.

Steelers 27
Chargers 17

The Steelers can't seem to win on the west coast. I'll chalk this one up as a loss.

All that cross country travel will catch up to the Bolts, and the Steelers have had two weeks to prepare for this game. No way the Steelers lose this one.

Cowher has owned Shottenhiemer. The Steelers are comming off a bye and they should be loaded for bear after losing to the Pats.

I say Steelers 30- Bolts 14

The Bolts have an extra day of rest so the travel shouldn't be that much of a factor. Though Charger fans are normally a pretty subdued crowd, they do get excited when their team is going good so look for a big home field advantage. LT is on a roll and Brees is a lot better than he normally gets credit for, esp. with Gates playing in top form. The D really came through vs. the Pats. If the defense can keep it up look for...

31-17 Bolts

Was watching Sean Salisbury on ESPN NEWS during a game a few weeks ago. They were dogging someone for playing soft. He said that the player needed to be "kicked in the cutter." Funny shit.

I don't give a fuck either.

I'm more concerned about the Raiduhs than the Stillers. A tough schedule is one thing, but in a cruel fit of incompetence, the NFL decided to give the Bolt's back to back opponents coming off bye-weeks.
I'll stipulate that Cowher will out coach Marty, however the Bolts are rolling and might overcome that with superior play.

Traveling to Oakland after the Raiduhs have a week off to heal, and two weeks to prepare for the hated Bolts may be too much to overcome. The Raiduhs could gain some much needed respect, not to mention momentum with a win over the Bolt's.

What positions do they play?

It won't matter anyway. Gates is going to school Hairboy the Hawaiian Homo.

31-17 Bolts
What makes you think Troy Polamalu is going to be locked up on Gates?

Troy lines up all over the field. Brees won't know where he's comming from.

For Oakland, the Bolt game is as close to a 'must-win' as a 5th game of the season can be.

A loss would put them 0-2 in-division (and 1-4 overall), with both division losses coming AT HOME.

Oakland will be sky-high for the game.

If they don't drastically cut their penalties, and start converting more often on 3rd down, I don't see 'em beating this SD team though, home OR away.

We'll talk about it more next week.

Your plate is full enough right now.

20 years ago on MNF the Chargers beat the Steelers 54-44. Wonder if history will repeat itself. :P

The Chargers are coming off a great win, but remember Big Ben doesn't lose to teams not named the Patriots. 1-2 against the Pats, 16-0 against everyone else. This will be a tough grind it out game, Steelers take it 17-14.

Palomalu is badass. He rang Gates bell a couple of times. He is easily one of the top three safeties in the league.

you don't understand the meaning of "ever"?

Junior was over-rated. That motherfucker would just jump on the pile when the play was basically over and then jump up, pump his fist and throw that gay kick, trying to act like he made a tackle.

His old lady is hot though.

LT's a great back - but I'd still rather have Polamalu. He is an excellent safety that has become integral to this defense.

On the surface, two factual statements! Howwwwwever, if you're saying you'd rather have one of the up and coming saftey's over the number ONE running back in the NFL  ..hey I gotta wonder :?

Individually, I'd agree. As far as how each player would be valuable to the Steelers as they are currently composed, I stand by it.

The Steelers were the #1 rushing team in the NFL last year and are amongst the league leaders again this year even with Staley and Bettis on the shelf for the first 4 weeks. How would trading away the best defensive player they have make their rushing attack that much better?

Hey I don't know, You've got an aging warrior, a rookie, and an always banged up Staley..I can't imagine why Cowher might want someone like L.T.

BTW..If you don't think L.T. would improve the Stillers running attack...that goes a long way in explaing why you were whinning so much after your team pulled one out on the final play of the game.

Mike,

You're not averaging in the cost of losing Polamalou on the defensive side of the ball. Sure, LT would improve the rushing attack. But not by enough to justify getting rid of a defensive stalwart like Troy Polamalou.

Hell yes I'm averaging in the cost BOTH ways..that's what we're discussing RIGHT?

Plugging in an adequate saftey for a star would naturally be a downgrade, but it's only one player out of eleven.

I'm saying if the ONE of eleven on offense is the best RB in the NFL, it would potentiate more than one excellent player on defense.

Now you can argue with that but you'd be wrong.

You're an offensive and defensive coordinator...who would you assign more people to, the best offensive threat in the NFL, or an excellent D-back?

Do you plan your game strategy and stuff 8 guys in the box to stop L.T. or send 8 guys after a saftey on every play?

Mike, I'm beginning to think that all those years of watching "Air Coryell" has resulted in permanent brain damage. What is it about Pittsburgh ALREADY having one of, if not THE most potent rushing attacks in the NFL that you don't understand? They rushed for 2400 yards last year. How would having LT on the field all the time have changed that?

LT is a great player, but a dominant saftey like Polamalou doesn't exactly come a dime a dozen either. Or have you already stopped cursing the release of Rodney Harrison?
