This Astro team has that special 'something' that you can't exactly place your finger on.
They find a way, they've done it all year.
Great blend of hungry youth and savvy experience.
GREAT pitching staff and tons of World Series experience in Clemens and Pettitte.
Roy O is the best pitcher in this series.
The Pink Sox get mucho respect from me, but in the end, the 'stros find a way one more time.
Astros in 7

Actually, I hope it is Stros in 7 with a Kirk Gibson-like homer by Baggy in the 9th of game 7.
I'd cum a lot if that happened.
I'd cum a lot if that happened.

White Sox in 6.
MVP Paul Konerko launches a blast in H-town that makes Pujols' mash look like a weak little pop-fly.
Sox are the beneficiary of yet another heads-up baserunning play by Pierzynski.

White Sox in 6 games
MVP: Paul Konerko
Game 1 - White Sox 6, Astros 4
So I was off by one run for each team tonight...
That's one down and 3 to go.

Like I just was saying on Fox, the Astros put up a good fight tonight but Scott pulled this one out for us.PrimeX wrote:Who cares. It's time for the NBA anyways. Oh, and the mother fucking Rose Bowl too.

I am not liking Lidge anymore, ever. O-M-G!
PS- Sox are good.
We'll have a real battle on our hands Tuesday up against Oswalt and a team at home with its back against the wall but I'm confident we'll prevail with Jon throwing for us.
Is Brad Lidge related to Donnie Moore?

The 'stros not coming away from Chicago with a split in 2 games played behind Clemens and Pettitte is a disappointment.
TOUGH loss tonight.
Hats off to the Pink Sox for coming through in da clutch.
Ok, so they held serve.
Bring it back to H-town.
I wanted a split, but I still like the way the pitching sets up for the Astros.
Oswalt and Pettitte would be going in games 6 and 7.
Let's get it there, boys.
Hope.

They are getting a lot of the breaks in the playoffs. Graffanino's error, the 'dropped' third strike, Dye's HBP, and now light-hitting Podsednik taking Lidge yard. For Pujols to do it is one thing but a leadoff hitter with no power to do it something totally different. Oswalt needs to stop the bleeding Tuesday or this'll end in 4. He's been their best starter in the postseason...if the Sox can get over on him, there's no stopping them.
The call on Dye was bogus but it seemed only fair the Astros would tie the game up in the 9th...only to lose it in the bottom of the inning. An average team could get just as many breaks or strokes of luck but it takes a quality team to take advantage of every opportunity. The Sox are doing just that.
Same thing was being said for STL last year. I hope it goes 6 and they have Mr. Ligue throwing out the 1st pitch.poptart wrote:Hmmmmmm....................poptart wrote:GREAT pitching staff and tons of World Series experience in Clemens and Pettitte.

This is what I said in another thread...
Odds are against the ASTROs... so I'll keep rooting for them!
The White Sox have gotten over on at least 2 HUGE calls this post season but I must admit they have used it to their advantage and not blown the opportunity...Jack wrote:Red Sox fan here!!
I liked the idea of the White Sox winning it since they haven't won since 1917! (Although they should have won in 1919!)
but that CALL in Game 2, left me with a sour taste! I have to give props to the Sox for taking advantage but it still tainted this series and will taint their World Series, if they win!!
The Cardinals have Tony LaLoser as their coach, so they don't stand a chance, even though the team is World Series worthy!!
The Astros are also a great story..They have never won a World Series!!
Hell, they have never been to one!!
Clemens, Petitte, Oswalt, Lidge..
The Killer B's.
The Astros winning the World Series would be the BEST STORY!! and so far, no taintage!!
The Killer B's and the Killer K's-- Burger King should pick up on this RIGHT NOW!!
and get rid of the hideous, stalker Burger King that is plaguing television these days!!
(okay maybe the word killer might be bad for business but it couldn't be worse than that plastic faced King freak!)- but I digress...
I'm picking the ASTROS!!
There, I said it--
Houston Astros in 6!!
I will be listening on my Boombox!!
while I work!
Odds are against the ASTROs... so I'll keep rooting for them!
What???
guess you didn't watch much of cards-asstro series?
Astros are reaping what they sewed.
they were given atleast 5 bullshit calls druing the series, christ, guy almost breaks his toe on a foulball, and it's called fair
it wouldnt of mattered, but lets get the shit straight. i'm still in awe of the missed tag at 2nd of Molina, which was called out   Molina gunning out runner at first, beating him by 6+ inches and called safe(cmon, 1b ump is 3 feet away)
heres a funny though

I'm glad you put that tagline on that take. Those calls don't get the same attention is Crede doesn't hit the double in Game 2 of the ALCS and Konerko doesn't hit the grand slam on Sunday. They're bad calls regardless but the Sox have made them sting for the opposition. You have to wonder if the media puts up as much of a fuss over the umpires' mistakes if they didn't lead to game-changing plays. I'm becoming a supporter of limited replay in baseball but the media and talk radio have gone overboard with the singling out these calls and the Sox accomplishments are being overshadowed as a result.
Bold prediction for Game 3...Oswalt goes 8 innings, Astros win 4-1.
(Considering how well he's been pitching, it probably isn't all that bold of a prediction)

Jesus fucking Christ, what more do the Sox need to do? What the hell is wrong with you people?? They maintain one of the best records in baseball virtually the entire season. Not good enough for you people. They sweep the defending world champs in the ALDS. Not good enough for you. They destroy the Angels in the ALCS. Still not good enough for you. Now they lead the Astros in the World Series 2-0 and you're still not convinced this team can play baseball better than everyone else?Shoalzie wrote:Screw_Michigan wrote:if this isn't destiny, then i have no fucking idea what destiny is.

They floundered towards the end of the season but got back in form after they beat up on the Indians and took that momentum in the ALDS. I wasn't saying that they've gotten here because they got a few calls their way. They pitched 4 complete games in a row in the ALCS...they belong here, I never disputed that. It's purely coincidental that those contraversial calls/errors occurred in games involving the Sox. It does take a few lucky breaks for a team to get over sometimes but they're getting production out of every guy in the batting order, playing strong defense, the rotation is stellar and the bullpen has been good when needed. From an Astros standpoint, they've got to take solice in the fact their best pitcher is taking the bump tonight at home...it's their chance to take away from the Sox momentum. If they lose tonight though, the series definitely isn't going back to US Cellular Field.
