Congrats to the Sox

Post by Shoalzie »

That was a team that just did it the right way. I'm jealous of SoxFan right now...enjoy this title, you've wait a long time and your team deserves it.

Screw--try not to start a riot at WMU, okay? Congrats bro! 8)

Fuck the White Sox.

Sin,

Bitter Cub fan who knows his team will never win it all
"Our staff is going to ensure that anyone who attends this University and wears the Indiana uniform will make this privilege among their highest priorities and not treat the opportunity as an entitlement,'' Crean said in a statement. "We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."

shoalz, thanks for the props. unfortunately i have a huge libel law exam tomorrow so i couldn't live it up tonight. but i did drive around the stuart neighborhood and honk my horn endlessly for a bit. if the sox can win it all, so can the tigs eventually.

watching michigan state win it in 00 was special, but aside from winning a cup, there is no more agonizing postseason than baseball. that's why i love pitching duels: every fucking AB is HUGE. this is to all the hardcore white sox fans who are 50 or older. THAT is a fucking long time. i'm only 23. it seemed like an eternity but that's nothing compared to what others have been through.

this is the WHITE SOX we're talking about here, people! just a few years ago this franchise had nothing going for it. mediocre teams who were always good enough to finish above .500 and tease, but never finish. stagnat managers who went with the long ball. big money players on the payroll. the white flag trade in 97, jr fleecing and threatening to leave for st. pete if he didn't get a new stadium, the list goes on.

but everything changed when ozzie came around. dude singlehandedly changed the face of the franchise. someone here said it earlier, baseball is such a beautiful game when all aspects of the game are utilized: pitching, defense, hitting, clutch play. jermaine dye: yeah, he can't fill maggs shoes.

go sox! wish i was in chicago now. there is something very special about a team that can go wire to wire. the sox were a machine this year.

Yeah, congrats.

You know, when 3 players on your starting lineup are always trying to bunt (Biggio, Tavares & Everett) to get on base, you're not going to have much offense. Sox outplayed, out hustled, out hit, and outcoached the Stros.

Maybe next year...

(and i wish I hedged my WS ticket :brad:)

Thats because the Red Sox came close so often. Made it more of a tragic story for the media I guess.

Props to the current White Sox. Maybe this title will wipe out the fact that they are still the only team to knowingly throw the World Series. Then again maybe not.....

The Red Sox were a more tragic media story because of their close calls in the World Series. They came close several times to winning it all. 1986, 1968, and others. Just responding to a trolls post as to why the Red Sox got more pub.....

They didn't even make the playoffs that year.

If Neely wasn't such an idiot, I'd be willing to bet that suckah was pouring salt in 314's wounds with the "unintentional" mistake....

Blowing a 3-1 lead in 68... mum was 3 months prego at the time... the pain was umbilical. I felt it.

The fact they went wire-to-wire, had the best starting pitchers in baseball, and only lost 1 postseason game has nothing to do with why or how they won the WS. It had to do with the Pierzynski play, along with all the other bad calls against the teams they played.

Regards,

Bob Costas and many of the posters on this board prior to today

Oh, and props to the inferior team getting over on Garner. Big surprise.

Mad props to Podsednik. Dude has never been anything but a major fucking pain in Astro ass.

Ozzie is my new favorite manager. Major breath of fresh air.

Second. Dude actually has passion, a keen sense of personnel and spontaneity in front of the camera.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen events, and the fact that we don't like him, he'll either die in a plane crash, or have his team broken up.

Sincerely,

Too bad he's "retiring" because his team won.

I was sorta rooting for the Stros. Every time they played the killer bee sound effect** I cringed and hoped for the series to end as quickly as possible. So you see... I was torn. Mad props to you boys for the Cards beat down. WTF happened to Oswalt in the Series? :(

On the surface I don't have any problem with the Sox winning it all. They were CLEARLY the best team in the mix, losing exactly one game out of 12 games with great defense (Uribe, Crede), getting great pitching, never allowing the big hit, and getting the big hit when they needed it. They played the game like it should be.

Problem is, even with this monumental win for the Sox, their fans are STILL and always will be obsessed by the Cubs. Just listen to 'em.......the FIRST thing out of their mouth won't be how great it was to win a WS or how great the Sox played but rather how much the Cubs suck....or where are the Cubs? To the rank and file Sox fan, only two things are important, the Cubs losing and the Sox winning....IN THAT ORDER!

Sure, as a Cub fan, I don't like seeing the Sox getting a WS win first (like the Cubs will ever win one) but if the roles were reversed, many a Sox fan may consider a dangle from the shower curtain. So for now, let them bask in the glory of their little championship, finally getting some run outside Cook/DuPage/Lake counties for a change. Then again, if the Sox are walking in the woods alone and win a World Series, does anyone notice????

BWAHAHAAAAAAAAA!!!

Enjoy the trophy while you have it, Sock. Better carve your letters mighty big on it if you want anyone to remember your team.

Doesn't matter. Because the Yankees are going to reqiure that another tier be added to the trophy to allow for all the WS wins they'll have in the years to come.
With what? A 300 mil payroll? The yanks are in tough shape. They sold the farm system to aquire the overpaid underachieving bunch they have now. Atleast the sox have a fairly well stocked farm system.

Props to the chisox. And good yob, Ozzie. Now, go buy some fukkin' english lessons with some of your series earnings.
