Keep talkin shit bitch, Michigan owns the challenge cup. Six straight beatings in six sessions since it's inception. We've already clinched the fall session by the way.
See for yourself.

Oh and your girlfreind C.Rogers is a healthy scratch for the Lions. He's been outplayed in practice by Scottie Vines and Glenn Martinez (who?).
Fuck State.

I always thought Michigan fan looked upon Michigan State sort of the same way we look upon Fredo.
I don't know if Wolverine Steve is a fair example, but if he is, I was dead wrong. And I've lost a little respect for Michigan as a result.

The ND-Fredo "rivalry", if that's the word for it, is sort of difficult to explain, but I'll give it my best shot.
As I've said before, if Fredo were to go 1-10 for the entire season, but that 1 win were to come against ND, it'd be considered a successful season at Chestnut Hill. OTOH, most ND fans don't know if Fredo is even a 1-A program. A slight exaggeration, but you get the drift.
In short, it's the ultimate big brother/little brother relationship, except that they're more of an annoyance than anything else to ND.
If I were a Michigan fan, I'd probably consider Michigan State to be more on the line of Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan or Western Michigan than Michigan. Your biggest rival is Ohio State, not Michigan State. Hell, ND is, or at least should be, a bigger rival for you than Michigan State, even though ND isn't in your state or even in your conference.
Against that backdrop, why even bother to mention Michigan State?

I'm not going to put MSU at the level of Michigan, but to compare them to low tier MAC teams is really, really stupid. Those are teams that would need a lifetime just to even get a sniff at an upset against Michigan, whereas MSU, in a given decade, could realistically win at least half of the games. Hell, they do against Notre Dame, now don't they?Terry in Crapchester wrote:If I were a Michigan fan, I'd probably consider Michigan State to be more on the line of Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan or Western Michigan than Michigan. Yeah, Mgo, MSU has a nice 7-2 streak going against ND since '97. Before that, from '69-'94 (there was a 2-year hiatus in '95 and '96), ND went 23-3 against Michigan State.
It's been a series of streaks, although ND has a commanding lead in overall record. I suspect that next year will start the latest streak in this series (this one belonging to ND), although I suppose I could be wrong.

Yep. Not bad for a team that's along the line of Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan and Western Michigan.Terry in Crapchester wrote:Yeah, Mgo, MSU has a nice 7-2 streak going against ND since '97. Actually, that's not what I said, or at least, not what I meant to say.
What I meant to say is that it would seem to me that Michigan would look at MSU as being closer to Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, or Western Michigan than to Michigan. Much like there's a component of ND fans who look at Fredo as being comparable to, say, Navy, although that's not really the case. For that matter, in recent years, Fredo's record against us has been at least as impressive as has Michigan State's. But that doesn't change the fact that Fredo has a severe little brother complex vis-a-vis us.
As for the way Michigan State looks at Michigan, Killian posted a pic at Scobode that summed that up nicely.

You're right, it's NOT the case, therefore I don't think many actually think that way.Terry in Crapchester wrote:Actually, that's not what I said, or at least, not what I meant to say.

I think they see Michigan State as Michigan State, meaning, they see that game as one they should one, one they probably will win, but there's still a very realistic possibility of an upset, whereas with Eastern, Central or Western, there is virtually no chance of being upset. There's a huge difference between the two. Sure, they don't view MSU as another Michigan, but they also don't put them in the rungs of the aforementioned schools either. They're just MSU. There's no comparisons or contrasts.
