T.O. question from a fantasy perspective

Post by Rack Fu »

Can he play anywhere else this season?

Is it his choice or do the Eagles have the final say-so on another team picking him up?

Basically, I want to know if I totally need to drop his sorry ass or hold on to him.

The Eagles would have to find someone stupid enough to pick up any of the backloading of Owens' existing contract... which, in Owens' opinion, is a pittance.

You make the call from there.

As per my agreement on Saturday, I traded back for T.O. tonight, and promptly dropped him. Not like Im hurting at WR though. I have Moss, McCardell, Ward, Holt, and Wayne.

If you have an empty bench spot, remember this is the final bye week. Bench him, lay out for a few weeks, and see what happens. Dude may be done for the year, but it is way to early to call. Do not buy into the bullshit that the media is forcing down everyones throat right now. "He will not play again this year, and may never again! That is bullshit, and we all know it.

This is NOT like the Keyshawn deal. Avg player, bad additude, thats not getting the ball. This is a HOF'er, (if he would stop stepping on his own dick) that needs a coach that can control him. Unless T.O. is just totally fucking nuts, I have to think this fiasco in itself will do a great deal to reel him in, and have him toe the line.

Trust me, coaches and GM's around the league are scratching their heads and nuts, trying to figure out how they can trade for T.O. and turn him into a "Team Guy." Others simply dont care, just want him, and his catches.

Biggest factor in all of this of course, is the salary cap. Most teams simply can not afford to take him this year. If T.O. does not catch another pass this year, the salary cap will be why.

Drop him like a hot rock.

The trade deadline has passed, so the Eagles are left with a few choices for this season. Sit him and pay him (not likely), Suspend him for the league maximum 4 games (probable) and then either sit him for the remaining 4 games, or waive him. They don't want him showing up in an oppsing teams jersey this year. They'll suspend him for 4 games. Sit him (well, basically tell him not to come back) for the remainder of the season, and then either cut him outright, or see if they can find a stooge willing to trade.

So, under the most likely scenario he won't see the field again this year.
