Bunch of classless, punks. Not quite making the cut:
Sacramento's video accompaniment to their pregame introduction of the Detroit Pistons players before Tuesday night's clash with the Kings WAS A GUTLESS, CLASSLESS trick.
Before the game, as the Pistons were being introduced, the Kings ran a series of extremely negative images of Detroit on the giant overhead scoreboard screen. One image after another, abandoned and dilapidated buildings, burned out cars, desolate and garbage-strewn streets, on and on until the introductions were complete.
No, Jimmy Kimmel didn't land a new gig; this slight was the "brain" child of Kings game-night operations director Leland Patton.
Any bearing it had on the actual game was mostly negligible, as many of the Pistons were unaware what was being shown at the time. No matter: They played has if they had watched it Clockwork Orange-style.
Their 102-88 win over the Kings was notable for a few reasons. One, it was a sufficient rebuke to Patton's stupidity. Two, the Pistons hadn't won at Arco Arena in eight years, although they're not alone in their recent futility there. The Kings have amassed an awesome 57-3 record against Eastern Conference opponents at Arco since 2001.
