Vlad is the ultimate fucking player. Pujols couldnt hold his fucking jock in the feilding department, and arm strength is obviously lopsided toward the human cannon.

Vlad may swing at crazy shit, be he'll hit that crazy shit out of the fucking park. Vlad is younger (Save it Pujol balltonguers, dude is in his early to mid 30's) and is the complete 5 tool player.

by the end of his career, and after winning 3-4 championships Vlad will be considered one of the greatest that ever played.

I love Vlad as a player but injuries are going to keep him from being as good as he's capable of. When healthy, he's one of the two or three best players in the game. The Angels wouldn't win the AL West without him and the re-emergence of Colon.

Is that salary still from Ortiz's contract with the Twins or has he signed a new deal since he joined the Sox? A-Rod's still the better player but no question would I take Ortiz for that price tag.

He's signed 2 contracts with the Sox. The 1st was a free agent deal, then he signed a 2 year/12.5 mil contract extension last May with an opiton for a 3rd which will keep him here thru 2007.

Arod's defensive ability is a factor. But, I don't think MVPapi's DHing is because he is so horrible with the glove. He can play an adequate 1st base, but, with the sox' current lineup, DH makes more sense. But Papi's being the best fukking clutch hitter in recent memory, if not history, makes him more valuable than Aroid.

As for dollar value, nobody even comes close. Papi's value almost offsets the fact that they have to pay manny 20M. But, to be fair to Manny, he is one of the reasons for BP's success. You have to pitch to that fat bastard or face Manny with an extra person on base.

Couldn't disagree more with that post Cicero. The award is Most VALUABLE Player. I don't dispute A-Rod is one of the best in the game, but he isn't even the MVP on his own team. He doesn't come up big in the clutch in the regular seaon and plays Casper the Friendly Ghost in the playoffs. I'm sure Papi is pissed, but ask him if he'd trade is Ring for A-Rod's 2 MVP's.

Considering how stacked both the Yankees and Red Sox lineups were...it's really difficult to say who is the single most important guy on each team. A-Rod is the Yankees' best all-around player but Rivera was probably just as important to them as Rodriguez was this year because of their starting pitching issues and for how effective he was.

With Ortiz, he's basically the same hitter as Ramirez only Ortiz had more of the dramatic at bats. Guerrero probably would've won the award again had he not missed so much time during the season. He had another strong year but he and the Angels quietly went about their business...the Sox and Yankees always get the headlines before anyone else.

All contending teams have more than one guy that deserves credit for their success. That's why picking MVP usually comes down to a combination of player stats and overall team success. There's no perfect way to pick an MVP. Usually, you just take the guy having the best year off each of the contending teams and put them head-to-head. I'm sure Ortiz would love to win an MVP but he's got the one thing A-Rod doesn't have and that's a ring.

I beg to differ there. A-Rod's play in the field should certainly be considered clutch. I'm sure he kept numerous runs off the board with good defensive plays. His stats at the plate were better than Ortiz in just about every single category.

You can make a case for Rivera and Jeter, but no way on Giambi. Giambi did have a great second half, but A-Rod was much more consistent throughout the entire year.

When is the NL MVP being announced? This is so ghey that that wait weeks after the WS has ended and then announce the shit spread out over another two week period. That voting ended like a month and a half ago.

Fuck MLB for making us wait. It's too long of a wait, actually. The other 3 sports are in full swing and only the hardcore fans care now.

I can live with Pujols winning this one. I was one of the loudest Jones honks but certain key stats went in Pujols favor...that's probably what tipped the scales in his favor. I backed Jones just because I thought the Braves would've been in worse shape than the Cardinals would've been without Pujols. Really, the margin between the two was very narrow and I can't argue with the close voting. Both were very deserving of the award. It could've gone either way much like Ortiz and A-Rod. Props to Pujols on finally getting a much-deserved award but he was still the best hitter in the game without having the hardware.

David Ortiz hit .333 with a .750 Slugging % in the playoffs with 9 total bases.
